Course Overview -
This course and extensive question and answer session seeks to clarify critical questions on the treatment and status of women in Islam. The course will address some of the key Quran and Hadiths texts that are often misquoted or misinterpreted to prove that women have an inferior status in Islam. Topics covered will include women as political leaders, judges, intellectual equality, and women as witnesses, as scholars, violence against women, and women’s access to mosques, education and employment, and their role in family life.
