Mi lov di patwa...miss Miss Lou. Fun fact...I was part of Twi speaking cong for 12 yrs and learned my shsre of the language. One day some friends whom I knew were going back home to Ghana for a while bid me farewell and I responded in English to hv a good trip. Another Ghanaian friend standing near me said "Tell them 'Nantew Yiye!' That's what we say when someone will be travelling. So I did and it sweet them when I said that and they responded happily with 'medaase' (thanks). I then asked my friend, 'so what did I say?' He told me to use the Twi I learned so far and figure it out. So thinking for a minute I was pleasantly surprised to learn where our JA saying comes from. In Twi Nantew=walk & Yiye=good. My Ghanaian friend had no clue why I was so excited, but when I explained, he looked at me quite seriously and said 'Sister we have all been separated from our true families' So so true... Miss Lou knew.

Loving my copy of Jamaica Labrish which has a great selection of her poems. Anyone knows where I can find the audio version of all her poems?
