i think this is the best version. i saw this play three times. lol loved it every time. once in canada and twice in ny .

There IS something to say for the New York production. After all, it lasted for thousands of performances!

This Jonathan Pryce version was the first and, in my opinion, the best! If I remember correctly, the producers wanted Jonathan to reprise his part in New York, but there was a huge backlash from the Asian-American community against that. Nothing against Mr. Pryce; they wanted all Asian characters portrayed BY Asian actors. A reasonable request I think. Anyway, the opening was delayed for some time until all that was worked out. Fortunately, we have this original London cast album to enjoy!
