I'm really happy that she comes off as humble and very friendly, I was blessed that she replied to email last year and I wrote to her for the second time, hope she replies soon. But I didn't really like how the press painted her as 'arrogant and dumb' earlier on, which many saw her as being rude. But, she's not! Riyo deserved the title! She's my favourite Miss Universe aside from Natalie Glebova and Amelia Vega.

I'm in Japan and familiar with the culture. The Japanese have been respecting her as one of the smartest women that have ever entered the stages of beauty pageants. It was proven by the judges and her supporters. In terms of beauty, I believe you are a Caucasian believing the white is more superior than the other colors. I HATED Riyo in the leadup to MU 2007 but years after now I know why she won. She was the only one that night who wasn't afraid to be vulnerable. She showed humanness in a sea of (forced) grace.
