As a former Miss USA contestant, the organizations must know that you are coming from a place where you definitely know your shit! Instead of blocking you, they should have opened the communication lines. If they prefer to block any person who criticizes their organization, this is just very detrimental to their progress. You cannot have Yes people around you all the time. You need to hear the other side of the coin as well so that you can make an informed decision in terms of moving the organization forward. Anyway Dani, their loss! It's a sad situation though for everyone.
@DaniWalker11 ай бұрын
I really agree with what you're saying about "yes people." It's funny because when I ask others for opinions on my personal projects, I get very thrown off if everyone thinks it's a great idea. Strangely it's a red flag for me when no one has an objection. Then I begin to rethink my process.

That means, they know what you criticized to them and it seems that their feelings were hurt. They should consider that lesson and change whatever is lacking in their organization. I'm so shocked Dani with what happened. The Miss USA pageant needs to start planning more events for Miss USA, because it looks like Miss Teen USA is doing more things than USA. And what about the MUO Smile Train trip that Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA do like in 2018 Cat, Sara, and Miss Teen USA went to Brazil and in 2022 R'bonney, Megan, and Miss Teen USA went to Guatemala. Are they not going not going to do that? I'm so stressed with the Miss USA organization is not doing for the queen, but the Miss Universe Organization is doing for Sheynnis.

Pageants have been a passion of mine since I was very young. Although I went into performance as a career, I haven't really shared this love widely or openly. As a dude, and out of the reverence I feel for the pageant opportunity for women, I prefer to stay firmly and humbly in a state of continual learning. It was actually suggested recently that I take over the pageant back in my home area which unfortunately had to close this past year. It has been a secret dream of mine to be involved in pageantry. I don't know if I will ever make a move to get involved, or have the chance to be involved. However, I am most grateful for your channel. It has become my go to education in the pageant word. You have opened up a world of deeper insight in me as I follow along through various pageants through your eyes. If there are weeds, we must cut them back so they don't compromise healthy new growth. This is exactly why I create these episodes. If I were a contestant, devoting, time, money and resources, I would want to know about how an organization is operating, how they're treating queens, are they delivering on their promises, and do their actions align with their mission? These things matter, because once you win, you're under contract and you will not be able to speak out for a year. It's not a fun position to be in.

They blocked me for sharing my opinion about how they were seeking new directors. I used no fowl or aggressive language and just expressed my opinion. As a 15 year volunteer, former state titleholder and former state director, it is devastating to see how this program is conducting themselves. People should be allowed to speak up without being removed. MUO is no longer empowering free speech and is silencing the masses. I am sad to see that they cancelled you too Dani as you have been a huge asset to this program. Criticism can be tough, and it is sad to see that the new leadership will stop at nothing to silence the masses and continue to create division in a fan base that is dwindling.

I competed in the Miss USA organization and tbh it all felt like a huge money grab. To break it down it was almost a $500 entry fee just to compete along with a $800 ad fee page. And then if you booked with a hair and makeup artist you had to pay the USA state organization $250 or so even tho they weren’t even the ones doing your hair and makeup. To me those prices are outrageous and that’s not even with the cost of purchasing yourself a dress, shoes, swimwear/active wear, spray tans, pageant coaching, ect… On top of those fees. I get those fees are supposed to cover food, rental spaces for the pageant, the charter bus, and the hotel accommodation, but when you have over 50+ girls competing I feel that you’re making more than enough money to cut the cost down a bit. It’s not just the miss USA organization but a lot do the other system but tbh a lot do them seem like they are higher quality if you will and offer better prize packages. Not to mention every girl they pick look the same. Now that is no hate towards any of those girls but there’s no diversity throughout their system. And their whole age limit being raised to me feels like just a bigger money grab since more women will now compete. Now I highly doubt most of the older women will win simply bc it’s not what they look for in their contestants for the overall national pageant. I feel like they care more about the money than they do their actual contestants at this point. I would honestly love if a former miss USA spoke up about their experiences after winning to see if it’s actually worth the hype.

I feel you on the expenses. I tried to budget and still spent $20,000 to prep for Miss USA. But, you'd be surprised how much a venue costs. At the lower end they could be paying 10-40k. Then you need to consider if the venue has it's own lighting and sound equipment. If they do, then sometimes they require you to hire the venue staff, in addition to your own staff. If they don't have that, then you need to rent or purchase your own lighting and sound equipment. If the pageants in a ballroom then you need to pay for risers, staging, curtains, and labor to set it up. If you want to have any stage decorations, you'll need to pay for those. There's the cost of hotel rooms, food, transportation, luggage, for titleholders, staff, judges, and pageant hosts. They also pay printing fees for tickets, program books, sometimes pageant paperwork. Then you can't forget the crowns, sashes, flowers, trophies/plaques, insurance, photography, wifi, videography and extra costs for tech to stream the pageant. You also need to pay a yearly franchise fee for the rights to produce a Miss USA franchised state pageant, then you need to pay for your new titleholders travel to/from Miss USA/Teen USA and you're required to provide her with a gown for nationals. Most pageant directors aren't turning a huge profit, which is why they have jobs outside of being directors.

Omg, Dani! This outrages me because you do so much to make sure ppl are kind and uplifting in the comments. Your critiques have never come across as personal or malicious, but the blocking seems very much petty and unbecoming of an organization that upholds women and their voices. Keep speaking up! And I hope you’ll still be able to cover the pageants. All love here! I support you ❤❤

It feels a bit petty to me. I always appreciate your perspective and it's evident that you care about the industry, the contestants, and the organizations. I think the organization needs to remove the emotion and, honestly, should be grateful for your free feedback. What do they say, "feedback is a gift"? It may be tough to hear but you're only saying what people are thinking. And if they don't think people are paying attention to things like this, I can assure you my daughter has always noticed when titleholders seem to go MIA after getting crowned. It's actually a big deciding factor for her when choosing systems to compete in. I support you and your content and hope they pay attention!

Thank you so much. I agree, it can be tough to hear. I often seek feedback from different people and I don't always love the reply but I try to apply the lessons. Your daughter is not alone. Many contestants take those things into consideration and I think it's important to do so when you're invested with time and money.

Hey Dani, great content as usual, in the right circunstances would you participate again for the miss usa crown? i really think you could really get it! not only the miss usa crown but the MU crown too, maybe now its nearly imposible lol
@lestrada8811 ай бұрын
Welcome to the club! I don’t know if you saw my tag on you during MU when the Miss USA handle only kept releasing updates of the competition and posting videos taken by someone in their living room of the TV when Miss USA comes on. No team doing live post with beautiful edits… I think I called them out saying, this is not what your queen deserved and tagged you saying, “they’re doing it again Dani.” I got an instant block. They’re shady AF
