You forgot to mention how dragon heart consumption inevitably turns the person into a Wyrm, and she may have chosen to be a bloody finger because Mohg made a deal to hold the transformation back so long as she serves him. Which is sad, because even if our Ronin got what he wished for, she would just turn into a flightless, belly dragging Wyrm. Which is truly the worst fate?

there is an interesting last detail theory about Eleonora her bloodlust is so great, so strong, that she probably intent to betray her master and kill Luminary Mogh himself upon her death, she drops her poleblade (coolest weapon) and the purifying crystal tear, used in the physic flask to nullify nothing more than Moghwyn's Bloodboon Rutial, his most dangerous attack add on that she doesn't have the forehead trident tatoo that all other bloody fingers have

Moreover, Yura seemingly betrayed his own morality by giving himself to a different type of madness, if Shabriri is speaking true. Perhaps he felt that he had to in order to be any match for Eleonora, or to make use of Shabriri's powers of suggestion. But if he had succeeded, then Yura would likely have succumbed to frenzy anyway. I think he's pretty certain that hunting Eleonora is his death sentence, so he made the deal. It's why he tells you to run away from her.
@dksu7 ай бұрын
@@NickCombs I think that it's more likely that Shabriri was just trying to deceive you by taking the form of a well-liked and virtuous character (much as how he revives Irina, now in the form of Hyetta). He's also a known deceiver, based on what he tells you at the mountaintops versus what actually occurs.
@NickCombs7 ай бұрын
@@dksu While I agree Shabriri is a liar, there must be limits on his ability. Otherwise, he could take over anyone at any time. It's a common limit in myths for an evil entity to require an invitation before they can enter. So I'm thinking along these lines when Shabriri says Yura offered his body to this entity.
@dksu7 ай бұрын
@@NickCombs yeah it's definitely possible that he took advantage of Yura's moment of weakness. I guess I just doubt that Yura would willingly give himself to the Frenzied Flame. I would buy though that he was deceived into allowing himself to be possessed, much as we can infer that Irina may have been into become a vessel for the Three Fingers without knowing exactly what she was doing.
@c0ffeef0x8 ай бұрын
One thing to consider is that after the Agheel fight he says the line: "That was my first dragon hunt in quite some time. Paired up with a hothead like you, it was just like old times." This implies to me that he was speaking from first hand knowledge of being a dragon hunter and perhaps someone who once partook in dragon communion. It's possible he's warning you of communion in a kind of "do as I say not as I do kind of way." The 'hothead' even seems likely to be Eleonora. His reverence to her knighthood tells me that he admired her as a drake knight (and possibly could've been one himself), it was her fall to becoming a bloody finger that he hated.

I seriously do not understand people that do this shit of not watching the video, not reading an article beyond the title and so-on. It ain't hard to stop yourself from commenting cuz you're just being absolutely redundant with EVERYTHING you just said, Like seriously, It's a bit after the half way mark that ALL of the content or speculation in your comment is said in the video. The literal quote about hot-headed shit, the, at this point obvious speculation of his motivation for his words, etc. ALL OF IT, it's like you came to write this comment after you read the title of the video man, not even watched a few seconds

I love how in ER, people who do invasions are basically labeled as snakes. Which is pretty much how one often feels about an invader, especially if they screw your game somehow. It's like Fromsoft is acknowledging the feeling, within the narrative itself. The voice actor for Yura is probably my favorite in the game. Man could ask you to pass the salt, and it would sound epic.

I'm a late viewer to this one... my god, i was so heartbroken by the end. It's an unspeakable feeling how even a most tragic, fateful tale can suddenly be granted a touch of beauty by love's intervention alone. Appreciated as always your meticulous, sensitive approach to the character's actions and motivations, hope this won't come off as an admirer-tinted praise, but i truly believe only you could have made this video. Your narration all along was great but the emotion in your voice on that last bit, so heartfelt... As for Yura, props to the voice actor for conveying so well the feeling of resolve pushed forward by his devotion to Eleonora, his refusal to believe that even when she's gone so far, he could still save her from her blood-ridden fate. Then, his unconditional love, he didn't need her to love him back, true love asks for nothing in return, he just wished for her to be her former, actual self. The pain in his voice as he falls by her hand, how his last thoughts and wish are for her, the woman who remained immaculate in his heart, that's actually what left me heartbroken in the end. P.S. Apologies for the long comment and congrats on 110k subs!

The word “kokoro” quite literally means “heart”, but rather than say the anatomically physical heart “Shinzou“「心臓🫀」that pumps blood in our veins, the word refers to the symbolic heart (❤). In Japanese, kokoro is used specifically to convey the emotional heart we love with, and our fondness for someone. For instance you could refer to keeping someone in your heart the same way you could call that person “your heart”. If that helps, I think there’s no mistake there was an implication of deep emotional bond, more than just camaraderie. Great video as always. Yura’s quest was a deep and unexpected one during my journey. And congratulations to your huge milestone! Well earned.

As an italian myself I would’ve never imagined hearing the word “cesso” in a lore video. Btw (not to correct you or anything) the pronunciation of the word is “chesso” and, as often happens, more “vulgar” words directly come from latin. In this case the word “cesso” comes from the word “recessus” and the verb “recédere”, which basically means to go into a private place, without any “dirty” implications at all. It was only later on that people started using the term as an insult to someone, or something, implying that the “private place” was,in fact, the toilet. So if we interpret the word “cessblood” in a modern way, it surely refers to something dirty and filthy, but if we go back to the original meaning , it refers more to something almost “private”, or, if you prefer “hidden”, which is in my opinion perfectly in tune with the narrative of an hidden order, not easily accessible. Hope you found this interesting!

i love how some of yura's dialogue with regard to eleanora features double entendre which can either be interpreted romantically, or violently: "i'm dying to see you." longing for her romantically? or is this a statement acknowledging that he will lose his life next they meet? "it seems i am no match for you." to be sure, she bested him in battle, but could this mean he now understands he is no romantic match for her?

On Yura's line; "I cut off the finger", it's far more likely that he's talking about his own finger rather than Eleonora's, as he is talking to her, rather than about her. It also makes sense that he's talking about himself, being a Ronin, he is without a master where once he had one, Mohg. As Mohg still lives, severing his own finger was walking away from his bloody oath, making him a blade without a master and he thus becomes his own master, following his own desire to liberate Eleonora from her own oath.

I believe that his words about avoiding Eleonora might have a double edge. It might not've been for your safety alone, but rather, for the safety of the two people that he seemed to care about. He does show some genuine care by eventually lending his strength to your cause in something that he knows very well could potentially lead to your path to corruption. He might also have noted your potential, becoming increasingly more skilled as time passed on. He might've simply not wanted the chance of having to end up choosing one side or the other should it come down to you confronting Eleonora. He wanted to give himself the chance to get to her first.

Fantastic video, thanks for making it! Regarding the word "kokoro" and its translation, it's not much that it can mean EITHER heart, mind, soul, etc. but rather that its meaning touches on all of those things if you try to anglicize it. To be clear, I know more about poetic language than translation, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but the implication seems to be that he held Elonora deep within his soul, or his genuine self (or his "heart" as is often translated). You're right that it is not necessarily romantic but it implies a VERY deep, soulful bond.

I wonder if Eleonora was just trying to kill Mogh out of love for Yura? It would explain why she has the purifying crystal tear. She's mute and was raised like a dragon, her only known form of communication is violence. And the only reason Yura keeps fighting, despite being too old too, is to protect the innocent from bloody fingers. So maybe she was trying to rise through the ranks enough to assassinate Mogh, cutting the head off the serpent, and dissolve his whole blood cult that way. She's obviously high ranking, even given a blood-cursed sword and entrusted with Mogh's sacred tear, but she doesn't have blood cult eyes, no blood cult tattoo, nor does she use blood cult incantations, indicating a lack of true belief. So maybe Yura cutting off Eleonora's finger was seen as a rejection. Her attack on Yura may not have been the actions of the cold, but the actions of a spurned dragon

Thank you sister for alot of this detailed lore that I didn't meticulously find out myself while playing the game. You are very good and thoughtful with words, and it's a bit of a turn on actually but nevermind me... God bless you 💛🧝♂️
