Awesome! I could not resist, I bought both of them and I got my field test one yesterday very impressive for sure. I collect full size arcade games as-well and I used to own a missile command cabaret. Definitely a quality representation of a classic game! Thank you for your great video.

As soon as I read New Wave were releasing these I thought of you. The detail is very impressive, I find it amazing (and pretty awesome) that they even considered creating a Field-test version. I only knew about those from reading your book, fascinating. Beautiful models with the added bonus of actually being playable 😎

Thank you so much for sharing, I have ordered the field test version as Missile Command was one of the first games I ever played on my cousins Atari ST 520. I was gob smacked and years later couldn't believe how close to the truth the game was, completely oblivious to the cold war going in the 80's. I'm looking forward to playing it for the very first time on an actual cabinet replica as here in Australia we didn't have any Atari Missile Command cabinets in the local arcades. We got Space Invaders, Pac Man, Galaga, Dig Dug and if you were lucky there was a working Donkey Kong. There was also sometimes Mrs Pac Man, Pole Position, Star Wars and 5 to 8 pinball machines. Years later a lot more appeared but those where the cabinets I would typically see at the time of Missile Command. I was always annoyed by the sit down coffee table cabinets versus the genuine stand up machines in arcades as well. One thing I would have loved to have seen in this video, is if the original field test model marquee actually lights up elements as you complete waves within the game etc as originally intended. But in any case, I'll be able to see for myself when the actual cabinet arrives and see for myself. Way to go on restoring those cabinets in the back ground there. Legendary games from a time when everyone got together to go and have fun with games. Everything was pretty much instantly accessible and anyone could have a go. Some of the complexity in modern games has annoyed me as a great game will often get overlooked when people find it to complex etc. In sharp contrast the legendary classic arcade games are instantly playable and enjoyable. Best of all a resurgence in interest for the games is underway with new arcades popping up delivering incredible classic arcade fun again.
