I'm so moved by the honesty of this mother. We really need to provide help for people addicted to drugs or in violent relationships. There's a huge impact on children when parents aren't coping well with life. I'm so impressed by how she turned her life around and has been trying to get her daughter back.

@@crystaljohnston9928 Maybe so...I also think she had no legal rights because her parenting rights were terminated, so the police and courts could ignore her. Those people are overwhelmed with cases already. Very sad. The big problem was the guy at the Child Protective Services - he was friends with her ex so he protected the ex. That guy needs to be charged. I hope some new laws will come about because of this case.

@Mary Poppins No. however if I wanted to divulge that portion of the story I would’ve. Your comment was a little instructive but I can appreciate your curiosity. Im not an addict however I have a family member that was and I had to go thru the same process as this lady to get my niece. I wasn’t even the parent but they took me thru these exact steps even when I would report abuse/neglect.

@@arizonagirl8841 it’s crazy that a lot of states adopt these same fruitless processes. It just baffles me. Outside of the initial mistakes she made to get her kids taken in the 1st place, it sounds like she took all the appropriate steps to see and get to her child. The way they responded to her is despicable but unfortunately you literally have to send letters to the Mayor to get DCF to move their feet with certain cases.

I couldn't agree more! I'm in Arizona and at one time had to go out on field investigations. I was a ride along in training so I didn't get to make any legal decisions, but I can't tell you how many times children should have been removed from the home and were not and others should have been able to stay with their families, but removed. The worse case managers didn't even have children and no clue some of the struggles these parents faced. Needless to say, I decided to stay with DES Foster Care division and not Child Protective Services.

As a recovering addict and mother of 3 that had my children also taken away by CPS and thankfully got them back I literally can't even imagine the pain and guilt she carries daily at this time no she's not perfect and isn't saying she is but she also wasn't bashing her child around the house and from experience I can say they tried to get the person that had my child to adopt them within 6 months of the case even being opened just to be done with it when I was doing above and beyond what they asked me to do. I'm so thankful that i also had the smarts early to call the media and have an anchor up at the DSS building because I was given no answers for months about my kids so bravo to this lady for her doing that I just wished it would have been sooner so she would still have her baby! CPS is pathetic not every social worker but ALOT of them and more than half are under the age of 23 years old and don't even have kids themselves thankfully I was finally given the sweetest 22 year old female as a case worker who's mom was also an addict and she saw me trying and gave me my kids back I thank God for her everyday. I now have been clean 4 years and have a business helping ppl break free from addiction with Jesus, natural teas and vitamins! People can change and looks like this lady is on the right track to find her baby I PRAY she is still alive and well!

@greedy world So, no one in your life has ever had a drug or alcohol problem? 39 years clean and sober here, and grateful my ex allowed me to prove I was worthy! We can, and do recover. I'm not saying all cases are like mine, but many are, and people deserve a 2nd chance. I was able to be there again for my daughters, my parents as they aged, and went through death with them. I had a husband die, and went through a big disability issue with chronic pain, back issues, and never drank or drugged again to escape. I worked even in my drinking days, and for 28 years in sobriety as a supervisor in an automotive supplier factory. You wouldn't believe the person I was then. Judging by your statement, I'm probably not worthy in your eyes today. I take pity in anyone in your life who comes along and truly is trying. I hope they get surrounded by people like me who will give them the opportunity to try. She is being accountable, and that speaks volumes to me. Please rethink your stance, perhaps you've had a bad experience with someone who's never found a 2nd life...if so I understand your perspective at the moment. Namaste

@@emilyflotilla931 I don't think you understand my point of view. If someone is a drug addict or alcoholic that's fine. I don't really care either way. But when your selfish lifestyle spills over to your children's and they end up being murdered because you wernt there to protect them, that's when it's a problem. This woman isn't a junkie who got herself back on track and now wants her ex husband and daughter to love and accept her again. She is a junkie who lost her daughter and her daughter is probably dead now, if not 2 years ago, and it's because she wasn't there for her 2 years ago. I'm sorry if I seem callus but we all know that little girl is probably long been dead to the point where if they find her it will be bones. That is the most horrible thing I can think of. That woman lost her child and didn't start looking for her until her body was fully decomposed. She is a disgrace to mankind as well as the girls father and every other adult that was in her life. Its the most reprehensible thing I can imagine and all these people are so forgiving to this mother. That girl was probably decomposing years before you even saw her face on tv.. this case makes me sick to my stomach whenever I think of it. That is amazing for you that you were able to take care of yourself so you could continue to be in your family's life. I am very happy for you. You were a lucky one. But you dont get second chances in my opinion when your actions and neglect directly contribute to your child's disappearance/ death. Let's just hope she is alive. Namaste

@@mjc1696 everyone deserves a second chance as long as they aren't harmful. This mother wasn't harmful and no court would have allowed that adoption to go through if they thought she wasn't a fit person. Unfortunately the judge that dealt with harmonys parental case is majorly at fault. They didn't do any research on the father before providing full custody to the father. If you wanna blame anyone blame that judge and blame the father that did it. The mother is genuine and shows no signs of lying her story makes sense. The fathers story however makes no sense. The mother tried her best and yes she will always regret not doing more. But to blame her for something she literally had no control or rights over that child or the situation is ridiculous.

Then she lies to detectives and first tells them she last saw her daughter 6 months ago, then says well, actually it’s more like 3 years. That’s not because of an addiction. That’s negligence. Calling DCF once or twice doesn’t amount to shit. She never went to court, she never contacted police, she didn’t meet with a lawyer to discuss her options, she didn’t call to see if she was enrolled or attending school, she didn’t call and request a welfare check. I do have empathy for recovering addicts and hope this mother is being honest. I have also been in a relationship where my ex did things for spite and not because it was in best interest of our child. Holding out hope for Harmony and her mother! I've been in recovery for 39 years next month. As a recovering alcoholic that dabbled in the cocaine trade that has been clean and sober for 19 years please don't beat this woman up her being sick in the past as she takes responsibility for her actions as she should takes responsibility but please don't judge her or me as we are today for what we was back then. Addiction is hell it consumes your life and it is also not Prejudice that doesn't care what color your skin is it doesn't care how much money you have in the bank it doesn't care, addiction destroys people but recovery is possible. Also please understand I don't in anyway shape or form want to give the indication that addiction is the excuse for anything. First thing you learn when you get in recovery is you have to take responsibility for your actions in the past. But just please don't judge her today for what she was in the past.

And we’re now go in a custody trial after six years of him lying and manipulating the courts or evidence is finally coming out. The system is really twisted. A coworker of mine lost her baby for nearly 2 months because she didn't have a custody agreement with the father yet, so apparently the baby follows tag rules where it's whoever is the last one to touch it? She tried to call the police and they said there was nothing she could do. Thankfully he is just petty not abusive, but family law and public policy need overhauls.

@Rebecca-hc5ju
@Rebecca-hc5ju 2 жыл бұрын
That's the law in Pennsylvania. If paternity has been established it's 50/50 physical and legal rights unless there's a custody agreement. If a parent allows the other parent to have the child, that parent can keep them. Plain and simple. The other parent would have to file emergency custody. Therefore in Pennsylvania if you have concerns about the other parent, do not allow them to have your child without a court ordered custody agreement.

All my heart breaks for this mother I have been alienated from my youngest daughter for the last 15 years she just turned 18 in November but I backed out finally when they were sitting on top of us at every single visit that I had her for and she would have to look at my ex-husband's mother and say am I allowed to tell my mom that I love her and then she would start shaking like a little leaf and I'm like I'm not doing this anymore I'll bow out gracefully and you guys can go ahead and raise her because this is not the stress in the fear that you've put into her to be afraid of me and there was no reason for that and now that she's 18 it's so sad I had to wish her life away to have a relationship with her It's unacceptable but they did that to her me and they only hurt her in the end because she's not going to know how to have a proper healthy relationship someday and she's going to have trust issues forever I'm just blessed at my daughter's definitely alive and safe They just mentally abused the hell out of her which that still abuse luckily I had another daughter though that was able to be the middle person until my youngest daughter how much I loved her and that I was always there for her no matter what if she wanted me I would be there for her and we have met up a few times secretly in the woods together while she's 16 and I'm 33-year-old adult myself we're sneaking around in the woods to give each other a hug every few years It's unacceptable So my heart absolutely breaks for this mother. And I'm also a recovering addict myself I thought by going away and getting myself clean and proven myself and having so many years under my belt clean and then trying to come back for my children that I gave up myself and put them in the homes that I put them in so they would have stable mother and father figure which they went to my ex-husband's mom and dad and then my oldest daughter went to my aunt and uncle but no they ended up keeping them on me even after I had 5 years clean under me and wanted to college and got a degree and started working for the government but I never had enough money to fight them in court They always had way more money than me and then they would manipulate me and tell me if I wanted what was best for my children I would leave them where they're at cuz I screwed them up enough It's just a real big shame just hurts my heart for her so badly I will be thinking about you and your family and I wish I could give you a hug

(We were living 300 miles away from him). I reached out to CPS because I didn’t know anything else to do. To make a long story short: I feel guilty because I didn’t get to be a part of my 4 grandchildren’s lives. It was 11years before they reached out to me. Three of them seem to be troubled. The youngest one started college in 2021. I wish Crystal, the strength and tenacity in her quest. One day, one step at a time. Keep saying the “SERENITY PRAYER” 👍🏻. Hang in there, don’t give up. 😊❤️👍🏻🙏🙏
