I grew up out in the triangle lake area, 35+ years of visiting as often as possible. Always making a point to go to millpond and never failed to buy groceries or supplies from Sandy at the Horton market. He was always so kind and I never left without his words of encouragement. I thought it was so odd a guy like him Just a strong man of great country living could disappear. I only hope he and God are walking together enjoying the beauty of creation.

Oh no! I used to stop at the Horton store from time to time. I saw more recently the store is closed and didn’t realize there was more than just a shuttered store. Do you know Terry Chesik?

You are quickly becoming one of my favorite channels Thank you for not going "411" on every case, I lived for couplel years in southern Coastal Oregon and know how easily someone can become lost or injured, and unlike out east , where the habitation is denser , help is far enough to be an issue

Thank you so much! I wanted to remember these people and offer practical guidance. As for the Missing 411, I appreciate that someone has gathered these cases for study, however, as a hiker I just know how easy it is to get immobilized in a place where people can't find you. The wilderness is vast and confusing.

I have lived in eastern Oregon all my life. Im 50 now. I have spent most of my life due to work in very deselate areas here. Best advice ever from a avid outdoors man, never go alone is the very key to outdoor survival 💯🎯⛺🙏😊

Very sorry for the families of these missing people. It must be even harder to remember and honor your loved one without really knowing what happened. Just as an odd observation, I find it very strange so many of these folks had green eyes. Green eyes are rare, about 5% in the US and 2% worldwide. I hope their families can get answers someday.

Apparently, Robert Bisell left his tent with his fishing pole, and walked down to the lake, intending to do some fishing. It appears that while he was away from his tent, he encountered something unexpected, which led to his disappearance.

Daming went missing not far from a logging job I was working from. I remember thinking how could he not hear our yarder whistle? My log truck had straight stack pipes so it was annoyingly loud as I ran the jake coming off the hill. I wondered how if he was just lost that he wouldn’t hear us and head towards our obvious safety. I assumed something bad happened like a medical issue???? I hope he wasn’t victimized. I’ve often wondered about him and where he is out there.

I appreciate the safety tips for hiking. Bring a whistle, so your voice doesn’t give out shouting for rescuers. And a trash bag large enough to fit into. It can help protect you from rain and cold.

Last year I bought a ranch near Cave Junction trashed by druggies. I camped there for a month to clean up,and several druggies drove by and stopped to take pictures of my campsite in the main structure. They came on the property at 3:30 am. My Anatolian Shepard let me know and I went out there with night vision and armed with a AR. They had small red lights and all four were armed but no night vision. I yelled out to them to leave or they're all about to die. They hid behind trees at first, they didn't think I had night vision and could see them. So I dumped several rounds into a berm below some trees to warn them, and then they ran. There are groups of these tweakers who hunt people. I know about her story and she is from near me. If these druggies are this desperate to go after ANYONE they see who is new or alone, vulnerable at all. Police need to conduct sting operations. And everyone needs to be extra aware and ARMED to the teeth.

Excellent safety tips, however, some of these cases indicate that no safety kit would be complete without an anti poof device to prevent disappearing.

The signage and maps on a lot of trails are shameful. We went on a sorta-loop trail that was all up hill, and by the time we got to a fork/sign we were tired and our feet hurt. The trail forked out in 4 different directions but the map only showed 3, it was impossible to tell which map turn was which trail turn because they weren't at the correct angles and weren't in the correct shapes. My feet hurt too bad to walk several unnecessary miles and then have to turn around. The GPS wasn't right either. It was infuriating. Plus I was mad just on principle and no one seemed to get why a map showing 3 trails is a problem when there are 4 trails in real life Anyway we have tons of trails like that here but without maps. You walk up perpendicularly to a trail and it has like 4 signs in the same direction that each say a trail name. No arrows no distance no nothing. They're like PAVED and you still need a map or gps if you don't want to walk 40 miles back to your car. I don't understand it, it would cost so much less to make normal signs than to rescue or recover people

Anyone hiking even a few miles out ought to invest in a PLB.

These are only a few out of the thousands & the ones that are not public have a place they go. If you all really knew what went on, you would never leave your house 🏡

I really can't understand how somebody goes to a 28 mile hike , alone!!!. I was always told by elders ,as a child , never go alone in the wild, especially on a 28 mile hike. It's just FAFO basically.

I've hiked and foraged for years by myself. Female, 70s now so unfortunately not so much anymore. I like hiking with big dogs and of course a loaded weapon. Unfortunately, guns are not as permissible in California as they are in Oregon. Most foragers I know trail with loaded weapons. In the last 2 years we've lost 2 60s something yo women mushroom hunting in our area. One was found under a log, exposure? The other has never been found, suspect she fell into an old mine shaft? We don't know. They found her schroom bag full of mushrooms and her truck... The first women was from Washington with her family! They were all rescued separately, even the dog. SAR looked for her for 2 weeks. Really sad.

Could Thomas McAdams memory issues have led to his disappearance? Perhaps he forgot that he existed and went poof? Come on people, get a grip!

Robert Bissel got injured and died, and then his body went poof? Sorry, that doesn't make any sense.
