Female here. Hiked and camped alone all my life throughout the United States. Went to Olympic National Park. Became creeped out and unnerved on a trail. Saw nothing but knew I wasn't alone. Backed down the trail with a switch blade in one hand, pepper spray in the other. What I remember the most is the complete silence of the forest except for my breathing. Never went back.

Somebody was watching you with the intent to harm you. I had a similar experience but in NYC of all places. Around 9pm I was walking down a empty residential street to the grocery store and suddenly my brain went on high alert. The first thing I noticed was how oddly quiet it was. I've never heard that kind of quiet before. And I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me. Didn't see a soul but my body was completely in flight mode. Damn near ran until I got to a busy street a couple of blocks later.

@Sean Beebe Yup. Remember the Kim Family? Also in Oregon's woods: The Kim family -- parents James and Kati and children Penelope, 4, and Sabine, 7 months -- disappeared Nov. 25, 2006 as they drove to Gold Beach from Merlin, just north of Grants Pass off Interstate 5. Kati Kim, 30, and her daughters were found Dec. 4 with the car after being stuck in the snow for nine days with few supplies. James Kim, 35, was found dead two days later in a creek. He had walked more than 16 miles in the cold and snow in a futile effort to get help. - The Oregonian

I'm a solo hiker, when I feel like someone's watching, its always when the forest goes quiet, its super scary but you need calm nerves to get you out of there safely. I carry my Glock, blade and pepper spray. A old Indian grandmother I ran into in Yosemite once said to me, "if the forest around you sudden goes quiet and you feel like someone is watching you, walk away or run" Yosemite has so many missing hikers too

is it a supernatural thing? Read something on reddit, people with same experience get lost stumbling on something unexplainable like dark clouds chasing them, stairs, portals, fae, aliens, some freaky shit in there.
@carrieyaj

@@0nionBruh. I honestly think it is supernatural. One time a lone hiker, he walked out in front of me and found my trail, he said he’s been lost for hours and didn’t know how he ever even went off trail when he was following the dirt trail path, he said before he got lost he felt dizzy and he just remembers he felt like someone was watching him and and he blacked out. Woke up in the middle of the forrest and scared for his life. Got that right, I left back down with him bc I felt as if someone was watching me the entire time. He was elderly and I wanted to make sure he was ok too, he reported it to park rangers but of course they couldn’t do much, not like a report matters there anyways, they’ll eventually hide it. I also believe in tree spirits. I swear I’ve seen trees move a bit as if it’s alive, brings shivers down my spine just thinking about it. I hear one little noise and I stop completely still, these trees I would hear moving like a bit to the side, I know they move cause birds will fly out of it after the noise or it goes completely quiet. Heck I’ve even spoken about it to local native tribes in my town and they said I’ve just seen a tree spirit, some are evil but some are just curious.

Solo hiker here too, Monterey county where I live but I carry all those things and people think I’m crazy.. I got lost in Santa Cruz aptos area, I realized why Ed kempur got away with everything he did. Shit you not for 4 hrs I did not see 1 person, I rested and like you said it got quiet with only a crow squawking. 15 mins after a Cali hillbilly popped out behind me 5dogs all with shock collars, mind you where I came from had me sweating and wondering how I made it down.. as quick as he came he disappeared when two mountain bikers came around the corner. They were lost off the main trail for 10 mins. Pretty intense moment…The hills do have eyes 👀

@@swizzle3535 holy crap that’s scary! Glad you got out there safely! I went to oakhurst area near Yosemite recently for a small quick hike, this lady with her dog was in front of me and she said if she can hike close to me cause she felt something was off, I told her to go in front of me and I’ll be in back of her a few feet away. Sure enough a mountain lion was stalking her and her dog, she got so scared we got out of there and warned others who were behind that we passed. They all left with us, we made sure to make plenty of noise. We reported it to the rangers so they came out and stationed around that area to make sure other hikers either got out of there safely or isn’t going in without a large group. Oakhurst, CA is mountain lion territory.

I remember a firefighter once say that when children are afraid in a fire they will instinctively hide. I can imagine children lost in the woods would do the same and thus become much harder to find. How absolutely terrifying it must be for a child to be lost in the woods.

I think if they're still a toddler they'll just walk and play, and if older due to cultural conditioning they'll look for any adult, THIS IS DANGER because they tell every kid that adults should be trusted for help if you're lost, but in those big unmarked woods every one/thing out there is dangerous.

During my "middle aged crisis" I was crazy enough to try caving. It was so terrifying I cancelled out and begged one of the guys to walk me back the long hilly distance to the parking lot. Nobody would so I went myself. Once I got in the car (not mine so I couldn't drive it) suddenly an older fellow was at the window staring and smiling at me. Not another soul around. I swallowed my fear and he talked a little nuts but not bad and finally left. Then my whole body shook for five minutes or so.

I'm not gonna lie.... i was reading this expecting it to be similar to all the other "shared experience" stories in these comments about people being in legitimately scary outdoors situations.... but this wasn't that lol, this was you freaking out about situations that probably shouldn't have bothered you. Yes, old man approaching your car when you're alone can be quite unnerving but when you talked with him and he turned out to not have any immediate bad intentions, then you shouldn't have been "shaking for 5 mins" nor should you be shaking from the prospect of going caving/spelunking, which can be a very dangerous and scary activity true, esp if you're inexperienced but it seems like you had a a group of guys with you so tbh... it kinda just sounds like you chickened out basically... in both situations lol and that there wasn't anything actually wrong.
@annettegenovesi
@annettegenovesi 2 жыл бұрын
@@thekamotodragon Interesting perspective sunshine, and you're probably right that my fear reaction was more about the caving itself than that older guy at the car. It just made the whole experience too nervy for me. And while there were experienced cavers with me, don't kid yourself. There were two accidents right there, and one man fell down and hurt his back pretty bad. That particular cave seemed to have been a pretty challenging one.
@thekamotodragon
@thekamotodragon 2 жыл бұрын
@@annettegenovesi damn, i feel bad now for kinda ripping on you haha, because you seem nice, and I don't think i communicated my core message very well with that comment, what i guess i was really thinking when writing was that i wanted to encourage you (and others) to be stronger people and not cave (hah) in to fear, you know? I like seeing people tackle scary situations head on to better themselves but then also make logical decisions when there is genuine danger and risk. Like, I'm certainly not doubting you that that cave was probably dangerous and if it was too advanced for you, then you were right to not go in, so i support that. But also, I'll say that caving is a legitimate hobby that many thousands of people enjoy entirely safely.

Likely because it is so remote. In British Columbia there is a highway called the Highway of Tears. Women hitchhikers (most Indigenous) have been disappearing for years on it. @Mike Stanis I don't know about the comments. I am not going to scroll further down. There are quite a few issues with missing people in the US and the world that need to be researched and figured out. Whether this is animals taking people for fun or UFO aductions or better training for all search and rescues, this video is all about shedding light on the subject matter. I'm a local professional tracker that works only at the sheriff's requiest, and I am hired at least once a year to find people in the Pisgah National Forest. I will often find a trail of the suspected missing person, follow it out 5-20 miles and lose track of them again and rarely pick it back up. Sometimes it's like they go straight up rock faces despite not having appropriate gear, unconditioned, or a small child. Around 20% of these cases are just off or wrong for one reason or another. Then the park service likes to deflate the number of disappearances by never recording 1,000's that are lost and found every year. Many claim to have no memory of the event. I really believed it was medical until couple of years and now I am not so certain.

Intuition or God, I listen when I feel that feeling. I think some kids are left intentionally. What better way to rid yourself of a child legally. Have everyone search in the wrong place. I got lost when I went to the wallowa mountains range,with the boy scouts.Well they took me fishing a long way from camp,and ditches me,I was a bully target as a kid.Anyway i wondered around the mountains lost no clue where i was or to go.i started crying and prayed to my father/creator to send an angel to help me show me where to go.Minutes later 2 happy laughing guys came out of the woods and up to me,saw me crying and calmed me down,told me they will show/take me to my camp.Listening to my story on the way,rather disgusted with the actions of the older scout's.Funny thing is I asked them if they were Angel's and why i thought so,they laughed ,not mokingly but joyfully happy laughter.No we aren't Angel's but we sure are glad we could help you,and walk with me every step,when we arrived at camp,the adult troop leader's didnt even know I was lost,the kids never told them.The two men who rescued me,tore the entire troop mostly directed at the adults,they told them they would never treat me like this again no more cleaning everyones fish,collecting wood,ect.They treated me somewhat,different after that,not much.I still believe they were sent our Father who takes the time to hear the quiet scared prayer of a little lost boy.

I used to live in the woods. Every afternoon I would take my dogs for a walk. One day as we were walking along the main road, I spotted a dead 6 point buck that had been hit by a car. There were about 5 huge vultures feeding on the carcus. The next day when I was walking my dogs past the same spot, there was nothing left but the ribcage. The following day there was nothing left, not a bone. I guess what the vultures dont eat the coyotes drag off. I imagine that humans would go just as fast or faster than a full grown buck. Without a trace.

In order for a case to be included in the Missing 411 clusters, any possibility of animal predation must be excluded. There is so much more to it than this. Even if every missing person was due to being eaten up by vultures and then bones hauled off by coyotes, what’s killing them in the first place? The point is that people are vanishing into thin air, their companions look away for 5 seconds and then they’re gone. A bear could not manage to do this without being noticed or leaving a bloody scene.

Me and my fiancé had a scary moment in the Corbett wma here in Florida, We camp the area frequently and I still even hunt the area but one night we set up camp at a fairly new spot to us near some water and surrounded by woods way in the back and all was just as any other night just me , her and our dog he’s a ( Chi-weenie) .. We always keep a small fire burning all night just as a way to keep some light around the camp for comfort. Around 12 or we finally made our way into the tent and not long after sleeping, around 2 or three in the morning My eyes jolt open like I was suddenly awaken by something inside me. I immediately heard heavy heavy breathing coming from the other side of my pickup truck . I barely pick my head up and see my dog looking at me shaking… ( not even barking) I pulled him close and sushed him by saying I know softly in his ear. I than whispered to my fiancé if she she was awake and she replied immediately ( yes) whispering under her breath . Just as I slid my shotgun into my grip I heard the same type of breathing coming closer to where the first thing was standing. So I knew there was two of w.e was big enough to breathe so deep that I can’t even mimic the sounds of the upper respiratory sound that I can still hear from that night. I whispered just be quiet to both my fiancé and my dog and all three of us just laid there for what seemed like 20 mins until I heard one run towards the road through the woods exceptionally fast.. The other remained there still just breathing and making little noises when the bushes would move . Still we did not get up or try to be brave. We knew it wasn’t human or anything I hunt. I figured with the way Sasquatchs they throw rocks I would be out numbered in the dark with who knows how many are really around. My plan was if something touched the tent I would just pull the trigger at that spot and figure out the charges later. But nothing did & After a while of laying there The noise just faded away & before I knew it was gone. We came out the tent right at day break to find a new path through the brush where the noises had definitely come from. It wasn’t hogs and it wasn’t deers… dam sure wasn’t human . I still hunt the area and still camp there but as a guy with experience in camping never go unarmed!!!!!!! And never play your hand early … The element of surprise may be all you have on your side. My instincts told me stay put until provoked and I am not ashamed to say I listened.

And this is not a new phenomena either. I was an avid backpacker and camper 40 years ago, and we heard the stories back then about people going missing in national Parks on a regular basis. At the time a lot of those disappearances were attributed to growing operations that the campers stumbled upon. Others I suppose could be from predators or dying of natural causes way off any trails. It's an unusual number of missing persons. I don t know if clusters are significant because all these places are apparently popular and attract hikers, etc. The fact that there's no trace is baffling though.

Luckily they were usually back by the time it got dark. I can not imagine doing something like that today. A little kid in the woods alone is a recipe for all sorts of bad things. I've seen and had some things happen on our family land that I don't just tell anyone cause of fear of being called a liar or crazy,it's 92 acres and it used to be a Indian hunting camp,finding arrowheads are common here not difficult to find,but there's also a group of graves like something happened where they had to quickly dig and bury a bunch of there dead and leave. When my brother,cousins and myself were young we were warned not to mess around alone or when the light was fading and had to have a rifle or shotgun in our group. But was never told why,well I found out when I was 14 and thought my Dad was calling me and I ended up realizing I was being led by something that was not my Dad and I had a fear that came over me and felt like something was bearing down on me and then suddenly there was no sound,I mean it's like the air was swallowing it up,I tried to pop my ears by extending my jaw to see if my hearing went out but no I heard just fine but anyway I'm ending it here but there is definitely things in this world that defies nature

We noticed behind us that a man was following us and was obviously trying to stay far back from us and quiet. Thankfully we both started making loud threats to him talking about how crazy we were and then both pretended to be on the phone with different people informing them. This stuff is terrifying, not as scary as these situations. Guys, gals. If you have a sickening feeling or any semblance of a feeling that you're being watched, then you're definitely being watched. It happened to me, and I can confirm it. When a peeping tom was staring at me from outside my window at night, I had the same sickening feeling. And I didn't even know I was being watched until my mother stormed outside and chased him out, then came to tell me about it while I was checking the window, not even fully knowing what happened yet. My mother caught him standing right in the spot where I felt the deafening disgusting stare was coming from, and it was pure intuition from both of us and from God for sure, because my mom also had no way of knowing that someone was out there watching me but she had a gut-feeling. The window was also pitch black so I couldn't see anyone outside, but I felt it like a hot rod on my back. Not even fear but pure disgust. Always listen to your cautionary gut.

@@FukYourVax It's just sad that you feel the need to ask me to shut my shades like someone in a war-torn country because a sick individual can't control his own behavior, maybe you don't intend it, but it almost sounds like you're blaming me for someone else's choices. it's in private property, in a spot where no one should be able to see it from outside my property unless you broke in like he did, and the window shades were closed, but they still don't close all the way even after pulling them down, so anyone desperate enough can still peek inside if they squint their eyes. The reality is that no one should be behaving that way in the first place no matter where the victims are, even if it's a public place. I only completely seal my windows day and night because unfortunately I have no control over a scumbag's actions.

Your intuition is there for a reason, which in itself is fascinating when you think about it; we get a *feeling* that something is behind us or someone is watching us, with most likely poor intentions. I was recently sitting in my pool area at like 3am and was playing a game on my ipad when all of a sudden I got a chill down my back and felt like someone was watching me. My back had been turned to the screen of the lanai and I was a basically up against it. I got up and moved my seat away from the screen, and when I sat down I looked up at the screen where I felt someone was watching me and someone ran through my yard and jumped my back fence. I'll never forget the feeling I felt when I heard him running and instantly knew my intuition had just warned me, and the sick feeling I got was not good. A woman had been killed in my pool area a year before, we had just moved in. I had felt like someone was watching me late at night for a couple of weeks before that and kept saying it to my fiance, too. Fyi, I ran in the house and grabbed my 43x, turned the back light on and my fiance came out with our shotgun. We made sure whoever that was knew we were ready for them. I always bring it out with me whenever I go out there late at night now. I don't wanna think about what someone was doing watching me at 3am in my backyard and why. Or who killed that lady and why. But these are the things that keep me up at night 😂

Never too early to learn stay put and what ways north and the sun sets west and rises east in Oregon. Sad sad instances where it happens to even the best mothers and fathers and grandparents and caregivers. The woods are dense and staying out but curled up next to a bush and then fall asleep at your pout. Of exhaustion and don’t hear the distant calls for you. Then someone walks by you on the other side of the bush. It’s happened sadly.

Ive had that silence happen to me many times in deep wilderness and also when I was in shady places in Iraq. every single time I have that happen in the woods I pack up my shit make sure my gun is loaded and get the hell out of that area. Once that silence turned into me being stalked by a very large mountain lion in BC luckily I was armed and it got distracted by my uncles dog which was following my ATV. But if silence becomes loud to you there is a very good chance something Is wrong and its time to back track immediately.

You must always trust your gut feeling. I remember as an 8 year playing outside in an apartment parking lot one day. I was the only person there from what I could see. Let me add I always played outside as a kid either riding my bike or ‘looking for dinosaur bones.’ This time I was alone again in the parking lot when I suddenly had this sickening feeling like something is wrong. Keep in mind I’m only 8 with no such knowledge of looking over my shoulder or even being aware of the dangers out there. My mom never had such discussions with me about stranger danger or being careful around men in general. But something made my stomach sink that day and I ran towards a stairway that’s leads up to the apartments. The stairway itself isn’t safe as it’s behind apartments that residents hardly used. As I got all the way up the stairs I looked behind me to see what gave me that feeling and I saw the 2 men that lived across the street in another apartment complex. They’re looking up at me but stood still, like they knew it was too late to catch up to me. They lived on a 2nd story so to think today that they walked down the stairs, crossed the street and made their way into the parking lot where I was still sends shivers down my back. I know today what could have happened… but as a kid I didn’t know those dangers but always had a strong gut feeling growing up. I’ve had many close calls this being one of them.

they are doing their jobs.... that is, covering up the missing cases. cos someone thinks they can do anything. and not get punished. its a routine to steal children.... its by design. missing number is just too high for it to be coincidence

We have 80 MILLION people camping every year. Statistically dozens are going to die from health issues while camping. Hundreds are going to die from accidents, and hundreds are going to get lost and never be found. The numbers sound huge but when your dealing with that many people tiny fractions add up to a lot of people. Example. If just 1% get lost that's 800,000 people! No mystery, no serial killers just plain dumb people wandering off and getting lost.

@@BrayoFitnessTrainer relax dude. Nobody is going to convert you except yourself. dude why do you have to hate people for praying it is a fantastic coping mechanism on a logical level you dont have to read this because its just my humble opinion but ive been raised catholic, turned athiest then agnostic and back to catholic your life is so empty without god because i lived that way for years. Why be a logical a hole your entire life when humans don’t even know the nature of reality. You have everything to gain but nothing to lose. How can you cope with anger when you believe there will be no justice for pedos/rapists/abusers in the next life? It would make me so angry because humans have such an infallible justice system. anyway i do wish you the best on a real lvl we are all human man spread love recieve joy not even trying to argue you know. but my life is better with god and you can’t deny the spiritual desire humans naturally have not only is this evident across history but science cant explain away everything and that is the reality

I remember a man went missing years ago near these caves we used to play near as kids. This was deep in the Appalachian mountains. A friend was with him and said he turned around and his friend was gone. No trace and a year goes by. The friend talks to an old native who asks what day and what time the disappearance occured. The native then sent the friend back to the same location on the same day, at the same time that very year, and there his friend was, sitting near the cave not paying any attention. His freind tackled him, demanding to know where he was for all those months and the guy had no clue any time had passed.

It’s always better not to be alone out there. Also keep in mind If you encounter a bear or cougar that running is more likely to trigger them to attack than standing still trying to look as big , dangerous and loud as possible. Running is what prey animals do😬.

Same! In high school, I did sports and always ran, when I went to visit my granny in the Hills of Tennessee, I remember going on a run at night on a trail through the woods, about 30 minutes in, I got an overwhelming gut feeling that I shouldn’t be there, I ended up running as fast as I could back my grandmas house, I made it back alot faster than 30 minutes too. The fear I had was truly painful.

It kind of makes sense. You got areas where experienced hikers with equipment can easily get lost so if you take kids out there the chances of them getting are pretty high.
