A lot of the "New Wave" bands of this era were dismissed as all flash and image , but a lot of them were super solid with great songs . The Fixx, Oingo Boingo , INXS, Devo , Berlin , so many great bands that have songs that hold up great .

@@terrorbulyfe He and Alex are 70 yo, but listening to Geddy makes me think they're not done - didn't get closure they way they wanted. In the moment, they were not happy with how it ended. Now of course they feel a degree of shame because they didn't fully grasp how bad Neil was physically and emotionally. Maybe not a world tour, but a dozen dates in North America doesn't seem crazy to me. Who would they take? I know they're friends with Chad Smith and Dave Grohl, but they couldn't do Neil justice if we're being honest. Plenty of other drummers could pull if off, including Terry. Would depend on whether they wanted to be out there with a true friend and fan of Ruch, or if they were making sure they had a technical wizard back there who would pull off every one of Neil's compositions with accuracy - for Neil and for those fans that would appreciate it. Fingers crossed it happens, and I don't care if there's a wind-up monkey behind the kit if I get to see them live again...

What a solid band these guys were! I was 19 at the time of this. With the typical knuckleheadedness of a metalhead my age, who wouldn't allow himself to enjoy anything non-metal, I didn't appreciate these guys & other groups 'til much later. By that time New Wave was history & the 80s were almost up. I will forever regret not being able to make this concert festival.

@@0clockedin0 He was also in the Knack though only lasted a few dates. Apparently the amenities associated with being in a band that had fallen off the radar weren't up to his standards. He has a very high image of self and is very particular, which is probably why his career went nowhere after the Jeff Beck gig, where he truly had the opportunity to be a star. Sadly, that band, great as it was, couldn't get enough work to make it viable aside from a tour to promote the 'Guitar Shop' album, then a call from Santana, who offered a tour support gig.

One day somewhere lies the master tape in stereo and one day since this remains the only video concert pro shot musician wise most graduated from Frank Zappa University ... ( Chuck Wild not sure about ) Dale Terry Warren Patrick 100 PERCENT ... This will get a 4K restoration from the master tape which lies in in a vault somewhere... Or if the original tapes of this iconic concert still exist they can sync all the cameras with today's technology ( in other words this is not a hard task ) Every camera video tape restored in 4 or 8K or whatever K exists I don't know 5 billion K there will be a way to make your own edit fun thing with choosing camera 1 or camera 10 or camera 4 and just click with a mouse or a finger or some kind of apparatus of some sort and also make well I'm not sure was this recorded in 24 track analog or does only a 2 track stereo I'm guessing one or the other BOTH ?? .... And you can make your own mix of visual and audio ... Like watching Dale the whole time OR WATCHING TERRY BOZZIO CAMERA FOR THE WHOLE SHOW ... NOW WOULDN'T THAT BE WONDERFUL ... NOW MOVING ONTO TONY WILLIAMS LIFETIME VIDEO in 1969 or 1970 .............. UH ........................... I have never see any since I got into all this great stuff when I saw Missing Persons live in concert not in 1983 but in 1984 at GREAT ADVENTURE IN NEW JERSEY WHICH I HAVE NOT SEEN A BOOT BUT ABOUT 24 PHOTOS WERE TAKEN BY DANNY AND ME AT THE SHOW WAITING LIKE 3 HOURS IN LINE IN THE FRONT OF THIS BIG LINE WAITING TO GET INTO THE SO CALLED AMPHITHEATER OR WHATEVER IT IS ... THIS WAS NOT THIS TOUR BUT A WHOLE DIFFERENT TOUR WITH A NEW ALBUM A YEAR AFTER THIS CONCERT WAS PERFORMED. Rhyme and Reason tour 1984 where Terry's outrageous electric kit kept breaking down like a lot of times... To see this kit he used ( it was only used in 1984 and then probably put into a recycle bin after the tour ended ) Simply tyoe in Missing Persons 1984 and it will be there.

So weird to see an instrument check. Bands haven’t done that for over ten years. Missing Persons in top form, yeahhh! (One of the KROQ DJs might have been a teenie bit too high that day)

I was there that day for the new wave day, but I never went in. I just sat outside in my van on a lawn chair drinking beer where I could hear the music. I actually saw Missing Persons about a week earlier at the Irvine Meadows Theater before this show. Since most of the bands at this US festival where in town they all did extra gigs all over So Cal. I saw U2 about 3-weeks earlier, Judas Priest about 2-weeks earlier, so and so on.

@@j.c.9784 I had a good time. I went in to see U2 and Joe Walsh. I did not see missing Persons because I had already seen them 2-weeks earlier. That is all I wanted to see on that day. I was in all day for the heavy metal day. Judas Priest kicked ass. The Scorpions where good too.

@@davidbrothers3788 I love how everybody forgets about the keyboards... Without Chuck Wild they wouldn't have had some of the sounds they did... I know for fact because he's my uncle. He left a band in early 1986 to do his own thing

This is 40 YEARS AGO as I text this with my thumbs on my phone. August 2023. Why am I watching this? It's still cool and entertaining. God! I'm old. How did I get here. Am I happy? Well, what do I know. That's a rhetorical question. Meaning it doesn't require an answer. I'm still a kid inside. I never grew up. Well, maybe I did somewhat. I'm doing things I couldn't do when this concert happened. I still don't wear a watch though.

"Destination Unknown" has been my alarm clock wake-up tune for a long time, but the music and the lyrics have gained even more significance in my life due to the catastrophic, disruptive and life-changing events of the past few years following the international Covid coup d'etat. I just can't seem to find a more appropriate replacement for it (--other than "No Way Out", I suppose, but that's not what I want to wake up to! It's more appropriate for driving to work!) I still love waking to the soft feminine rasp of lovely quirky Dale's voice. Missing Persons is indelibly intertwined in the fondest memories of my life, back in those awesome Eighties, when I was young, full of wonder, energy and excitement, and brimming with confidence and hopes for the future.

95% of the keyboard based bands of that time were just computer sequenced drums, keys, bass synth with vocals and misc keys and guitars laid over, but what I recognized when missing persons came out was this was not sequenced music (think berlin etc) as a keyboardist and guitarist at the time mainly playing top 40 rock ie genesis, toto, loverboy I was blown away but MP’s original sound and complicated songs. Later I found the bozio’s worked with zappa and I knew they were geniuses.
