The skeleton of a Queens woman who was reported missing in January was discovered accidentally by NYCHA workers three months later.

She had not paid rent in 2 years and that didn't trigger any question by the New York City Housing authority Management on site office? Did they have any idea that they may have should have checked the apartment or call the police to do a wellness check? This is heartbreaking. It's horrible that someone was left to die and rot away alone for almost 2 years! They really needs to be some reforms in the housing authorities management and some people need to be held accountable.

@@The_Realz yes that is very true in fact during that time there was an eviction moratorium which was in essence a good thing to protect those who were out of work or had a loss of income and kept them from being displaced but one of the downturns of that moratorium was that people did fall under the radar. I guess it would be fair that if it were normal times and that there was no pandemic an eviction would have been issued and they probably would have attempted entry into the apartment. I'm baffled as to why they didn't have the door broken down. The poor woman had emotional and mental health concerns. That warrants a welfare check. She hasn't paid rent in all that time, she hasn't made any phone calls in all that time, she hasn't accessed any of her bank cards in all that time, and no one has seen her. People just don't fall off the face of the earth like movies would have you believe. Unless they're dead or being held against their will, there will be some sort of trail. Even kidnapped people have a trail. If that was my sister and the housing office and police weren't taking me seriously, my parents and I would literally go take the hinges off the door, kick it down, I don't know how, but we'd find a way. _Especially_ since she went missing during the first Covid peak when we were on lock down and had nothing but time. This is absolutely egregious and entirely preventable.

And neighbors didn’t smell anything odd ? This is what is so wrong in this world humanity is so rapped up in worldly things that we forget who we should be !

I going,to call it,just the way I see it this is the fault of the family, and I suspect ,if she was going through some type of mental health crisis, they just probably, didn't want to deal with her, the sister said she wanted to talk to a doctor but even doing the pandemic she could have had a telephone assessment over the phone, I just trying to wrap my head around the idea that no one cares enough to locate her they say they call authorities I have to say if it was my family member, they would, have to have, charged me with destroying, public property because I would have kicked in the door to her apartment, I wouldn't have not rest into I knew what was going on , i have three grown children and 10 grandkids and we talked just about, everyday, they will check, my social media activities are FaceTime and text them, every day even if it's nothing, but a smiling emoji. I no New York housing is large I live in Cleveland Ohio and reside in Cuyahoga County Senior Housing and even doing the pandemic management sent notice if you weren't paying your rent and gave out resources to help you they even pass out essential needs like masks and thermometer and food just imagine she had not been seen since August of 2020 no one care in the building I reside in which is about 200 resident people generally look out for each other and I can say if a reside having not been seen someone will call for a welfare check just a sad world we live in today May she rest in heaven

In NYCHA the rent delinquency is high in regular times but now due to the pandemic no one could be evicted,so management probably did not try to collect rent,do apartment inspections,or annual income reviews.Interesting to see what the District Office for the project had as a policy!

Truth and C@ Listen she eas a mental case so her HA probably didn’t like going there because it wasn’t safe and it’s beyond their payscale to deal with crazy tenants. No one complained about the smell of her decomposing body? Even if the windows were open, and it was cold outside, decomposition still would have produced a foul smell...then in the summer months for sure within the first year of death there would have been an odor. No neighbors smelled the body?? 2 years decaying??? Windows opened for 2 years straight, even during the cold brutal winters, didn’t alarm anyone??
