I think that it's beautiful refinished furniture that would end up in the landfill otherwise. I don't see anybody else doing something positive with outdated furniture.

I wish I could find more mission style furniture where I'm at. I have market place alerts set for this style but unfortunately it's pretty rare in my area (mostly MCM and art deco here) and what does show up is usually very over priced for the condition 😢

Simple yet elegant...I love it! Why do you add an edge liner if you're planning to paint the dresser?

Good question! Painted pressed board looks rough. Adding the edge banding assures it will be smooth.

Pretty! I just finished a piece that needed sanding down to bare wood in areas like this one. It was a BEAR! I painted thinned wood putty against the grain, sanded and sprayed with shellac before painting TWO TIMES and I can still see some areas. Is it because I used shellac instead of STIX as a primer? Have you ever used fill primer? Does it work?

Filling the grain can take several coats. I don’t think it’s the primer it may be sanding too much of the filler away between coats. Some grain, especially oak is tough to get completely smooth.

@@olive.street.designs in my case the piece wasn’t pine but it had lots of soft dents like pine - not deep enough and too smooth to fillI with wood filler so I kept sanding those areas. Next time I need to let some of them go.
