Oh wow I’m actually early to one of these. Anyways, you guys were somewhat right.Construction of The P-51D Mustang began in late 1942 and it entered service in late 1943. The P-51D would go on to serve in Korea and Veitnam along with the P-51K and F-85 Twin Mustang.
