I really enjoyed seeing this video, seeing Mississauga from 1989 made me have flashbacks because I grew up in Port Credit, it's so amazing how it's changed since then. I remember when that McDonald's used to be there my Mom used to take me there all the time on the way to the babysitters, When I went with my Mom one day to go there the McDonald's was torn and it was so disappointing. Why did it get taken out? Seeing how Mississauga looked in 1989 brought back so many childhood memories like where the gas station was where Cousin's food is my Mom used to get gas there all the time in the 80's. I like the new Mississauga but at the same time miss the old one too.

I remember the McDonald's closed around 99 or 2000 because I went there just before it closed and I remember there was a sign saying it was closing or moving. It was just left as am empty lot for years and I'm not sure if they still did anything with it. I haven't been to Port Credit in awhile. The McDonald's eventually came to the plaza at Hurontario and King Street as a McDonald's Express.

We moved to Mississauga in 1968-my parents still live in the house they bought that year. I've lived in Toronto since '90 and cannot believe the huge changes over the years. I remember learning to golf at a little course on Hurontario just north of what's now Square One-it was called Hawthorne and remember driving with my dad to pick my sister up from horse back riding lessons that were in fields on Baseline Road (long since called Eglington) near Tomken. The urban sprawl really is endless.

I got your E-mail, Storecast. Thanks for creating and posting this! The main reasons for the increased greenness in the first part of the video was that the street still had ditches (it was widened to 6 lanes in 1992) and so no trees were planted yet.

It was there till 1999 or 2000. I remember I went just before it closed and after it just became an empty lot which I think it still might be. Not sure if they ever did anything with the space. There is hardly any change after Hurontario and Fairview all through Dundas because that is one area they have just left the same since maybe the 60's. It seriously needs to be cleaned up. It's the slums of Mississauga. So many drug dealers, addicts, pimps, and homeless people in general etc.

Really cool video, a couple questions: The building that you pass in 2012 on the right side on hurontario and Fairview, was it there in 1989? Also The plaza you pass after hurontario and Fairview with the Fabric land, was there a KFC there back in 1989?
@heathermcdonald60903 жыл бұрын
Yes, Bella Vista Place (30 Hanson Rd) was there in 1989. It was built in the mid 80s. I don't recall a KFC in the plaza with the Fabricland.
@cinnamin013 жыл бұрын
@@heathermcdonald6090 yeah I know Bella Vista was there. I live at Fairview Place across the street which was built in 1984. I didn't mean Bella Vista. I meant the other building that's a condo, the Fairmont Condos next to the Fire Station. It looks like it was still under construction in the video. So I was wondering what year it was finished.Yeah it wasn't a KFC. I thought I saw a sign for it but it wasn't. I remember Lastracco's Pizzeria used to be in the plaza with the Fabric Land though which was really good. Also the CIBC building by Square One looks like it wasn't even started for Construction yet but when I moved here in 1992 it was fully complete.
