A Times magazine report reveals a 13-year-old girl gave birth after her mother said she was raped and impregnated by a stranger in Clarksdale, Mississippi last year. She could not get an abortion since Mississippi's last abortion provider closed a year ago. Greta Kemp Martin is running for state Attorney General and joins to discuss the impact of abortion bans in Mississippi and what it means for the future of reproductive rights.

So a child in living in poverty gives birth to a child into poverty at 13. Did any state government aid her with prenatal care, delivery, and aftercare? Does she have huge medical bills? Who will help her raise the child so she can get through middle school, high school, etc? Otherwise, the mother who is a child herself will certainly stay within the cycle of poverty forever. You can’t say you’re pro-life if you’re really only pro-birth.

Actually it's the other biggest problem with thiese type of laws..force the child to give birth with no access to pre-natal care or any other assistance from the state, and you have many girls, women and babies that die during childbirth! This from a state that got caught diverting funds in the millions of dollars for public assistance for a new volleyball court instead of taking better care of those girls and women who are at risk the most by being forced to give birth against thier own choices. Do not call someone who was forced to give birth, a mom. That's so insidious. Would you feel like a mom in this case? You are adding emotional trauma. This is a little girl who just barely started the adult dosage for Tylenol. Being tortured just because in non torturous situations, this is normal, does not make it okay to compare the two. To this baby, who also did nothing wrong in is life, they will never have the parents or mother it deserves. I saw with my own eyes in the 2016 elections. In Louisiana lifetime Democrats and activists were literally wiped off the registered voters lists, when they absolutely had registered to vote. Voting lines were hours long and appeared to be deliberately slowed down in places that were predominately Dem leaning, while R leaning areas were a walk in the park, in and out, no problem situation. We've already seen the new voting maps/gerrymandering that benefit Republican leaning areas across the US. You’ll just ask your garbage question on repeat and demand that the other user answer exactly how you want, because-despite its obvious failure-you don’t know how to abandon your garbage plan. I ran a program focused on keeping teen mothers in school in the 90s. (retired now) At that time, a girl having a child that young was highly likely to have a second before 18. In my experience, teens with two kids just didn't finish high school. The girls that completed high school and went on to higher education had family to help with costs and especially child care. Girls without a strong network of family helpers didn't complete high school. Abortion is the best course for a middle school aged girl to give her a chance of developing into a well balanced, successful, contributing member of society. Mississippi just took that girls best chances of making a good life for herself.

The drive to Chicago was too costly. But having a child to feed, clothe, keep healthy will be even more expensive - and it will be covered by tax payers. Not Mississippi tax payers, there are almost none, but by California and New York tax payers.
