I camped on that beach 4 or 5 years ago on may 4th and caught a 45lb flathead.

@@thereal_baba_yaga for flatheads I try to use small live bluegill. Cut bait also works. Depends which side I am fishing, some states don’t allow gamefish as bait.

Grampa had a boat house at the Min City Boat Club. We would head out into the sloughs dunking minnows for crappie. It was such a maze, IDK how he found his way around. His wife's (my step gramma), her son owned the West End Bait shop in Winona, but you're probably too young to remember that one.
