Love the singing, and the dance moves, Nikki!!! My wife loves the videos with both of you fishing. We used to fish together all the time, but she has decided that she likes quilting more than fishing. (She is quite cold-blooded.) Anyway.....another great video! Keep up the great work!!

Smoked carp is really good, every bit as good as smoked salmon or eel, in my opinion. It's too bad Roger Beck is gone from Genoa, he really knew how to smoke fish. Mike Valley does a pretty good job in Prairie du Chien, too. My grandma stuffed and baked a carp once. It was surprisingly good.

You are correct, carp in cold water and under 4 lbs is amazing

Do you like the hi-vis line just to read the jig in the moving water easier?
@AnglerX

I use the the visibility of the line to detect the bottom and when a fish strikes

Enjoyed and learned from your video as expected. I hesitate to move around much on hard or soft water. WTG Nikki on the beautiful bronzie and moreso handling the net for the pike! It didn't know it was netted. Stupid walleye question of the day. Post spawn on rivers without wing dams - where would you start looking for eyes? Thank you in advance for your responses. TIGHT LINES ALL
@AnglerX

Thank you Chuck! Walleyes are looking for an easy meal post spawn. Males won’t be far from where they spawned. A good current seam near a rock or gravel bed is hard to beat. Fish will still be shallow.

How far downstream from the dam have you been getting the smallies? I would definitely want to be in the upper pool for walleye/sauger but it shouldn't matter to me with the smallmouths as long as there's current and the wingdams aren't silted in. I was thinking the wingdams by Sabula/Savanna (mid-pool 13) would be excellent and I would have the whole river to myself!

Agreed! I think the smallmouth relate to the wing dams closet to their wintering areas as the water warms up in the spring. I'm finding 36-38 deg water is when I start to catch a few smallmouth on the wing dams. When water temp reaches 40-45 deg it's lights out!

These Liquid Willow Flukes come scented. There are 3 different scents. What scent did you have on yours or which one do you like best? Thanks
@AnglerX

I don't find that one scent is better than the others. You can go wrong with any of the scents.

It’s refreshing seeing a vid that’s not someone up at the dam with 70 boats all vertically jigging. They can be found elsewhere for sure!

Thanks for sharing. How big was that pike? Why do you think that you caught fish later in the day and not earlier?
@AnglerX
@AnglerX 9 ай бұрын
We did not measure or weigh the pike. I'm guessing mid 30 inch range. I'm not exactly sure why we caught fish later in the day. It may just be that we finally found a wing dam that was holding fish. Or it could be that a feeding window opened up and fish were more aggressive. There are certain times of day that fish will feed and it can vary day to day.
