That strange piece of furniture that had the hanger on it is called a "valet stand". A person can hang their suit coat and pants on it, and can put their change, keys, or whatever in the drawers or open bins on top. I have one next to my bedroom door. Supposed to be fancy. It has become a collection area for stuff I don't know what to do with that crawls into my pant's pockets during the day.
