Love that you covered the “black orchid” this week - as I just recently purchased one from a grower in Hawaii. So excited to see the ‘witchcraft’ orchid in person!

I love that you covered the somewhat unpredictable nature of phal hybrids. I have one phal with flowers that will last an entire year(i am not kinding) but only about 5 flowers on any given spike, one who will produce fully branched flower spikes one after anouther(but never at the same time) and another that is great about secondary branching after the initial bloom. Silly things almost have personalities.

I will mist my orchids for a day or two after a repot just to give them a bit of a hand with maintaining internal moisture but I only spray away from the crown and they completely dry within an hour so crown rot isn't an issue!

Hi Danny. Missed you -glad seeing you back. Think phal isn’t the easiest bc on repotting they can drop their roots. Maybe we have recirculated toilet water here. Haha coconut water, gosh. Maybe using crushed cigars instead of spagnum moss ?? Hmmm 🤔 great idea ??

Black tea may be a myth, however I do see a little bit that black tea soak once a month does help my orchids. I also do proper fertilizers for orchids throughout the rest of the month. I am not prompting the way I fertilize my orchids. I am in true agreement with your truth and myth series that you are doing and I am learning a lot. Thank you.

Welcome back! Really neat video! I'm glad you talked about black flowers. I buy "black" petunias every spring. This year they told on themselves 😂 I had 2 new flowers open at the same time, one that looked like a deep black as expected, the other right next to it was this gorgeous black red, black cherry if you will! Is the Witchcraft beginner friendly? I've been in the hobby about 6 months now and it's my goal to have a black orchid

Not a fact about the phals. Depends on the weather. In a warm, humid weather, the dendrobium phal is the easiest. Where I’m from, they cost very little, while the phals are more than double the cost. And in warm weather, they’re prone to so many kinds of rot.

What is your second easiest orchid? What do you recommend when someone is ready to try other orchids. For me it has been a Heaven Scent Oncidium. It stays in bloom for several weeks and reblooms again in 4-5 months.

I started with having orchids in my home just recently. I’ve learned so much, however I’ve liked every single video I come across of your so I keep my memory fresh. I’m concerned about having my orchids near a window that lets in cold air during the winter. Could get down to the low 40’s. Is it ok to move them at night to the middle of the room so they can get some heat from my heating system? This window is the one that gets the most light. The only other option is to move them to my front room the has afternoon till dusk light. It faces west. They are such beautiful plants and I don’t want to mess them up. Help.

hey Danny, I have an orchid from South Asia which I found quite interesting it's called the grass Dendrobium or Dendrobium herbaceum its unique in that it branches out and looks more bushy and it also has the smallest flowers in the Dendrobium genus i was wondering if you have kept them before, I also have a doubt regarding watering you stated in one of your videos that monopodial orchids normally grow sideways so water doesn't get caught in the stem causing rot but all of the ones I've seen in the wild are naturally pointing upwards such as the Vandas, Aerides, Cleisostomas, Rhynchostylis and Acampes i've observed in Northern Kerala to be quite healthy even though they grow vertically?

Yes Danny if you read the late Art Chadwick's book the classic cattleyas back in the 1940's they would take sheeps wool and their droppings and make a "tea" to water the cymbibiums with.🤔🤔🤔😂

Interesting you mention Lisa Eldridge, you are the Eldridge of Orchids :) Sometimes I like to know who my favorite youtubers follow, and themes certainly pop up! Does your shirt hint that we might get another round of Orchids at Heart + MSF soon? do you also follow Justine Leconte, and what about a MOG/JL-design collab to support MSF?
