It's not really that difficult. One in four does not mean for every four tickets you buy in a row there will be one winner. It means if there are four thousand tickets sold there will be 1,000 winners total. All 1,000 could be in one pack. I literally seen back-to-back winners before.

So, the wording makes me believe that the probability of winning $5 is 1 in 4. So there are "x" number of actual $5 winners, however I'm guessing that the wording is just some horse crap manipulation. I'm guessing they mean that they take the total $ amount of winning tickets, divided by $5, and that would equal "25%" or 1 in 4. What a scam, so for a $100,000.00 winner, there would be 20,000 NON winning tickets. $100.000.00 ÷ $5.0 = 20,000. That is just 1 winning ticket, so THOSE odds would be 1 in 20,000. If a private business pulled that type of scam they would be in jail for ripping people off, but the government is above the law and they are allowed to rip people off. Another thought, there is no guarantee they actually make the winning tickets available. They only state that those winning tickets were printed, which means nothing. In Ohio, the lottery will often "pull" tickets after a length of time, or if they are not selling well. This is a MUCH larger scam than could be imagined!

Scratchers are a complete scam! I actually won the lottery way back for a good bit, too. But over the years I have seen the odds greatly decrease on all tickets. I don't understand why the odds went from 1 in 480k to hit the jackpot on a $5 ticket, to being double that in 10 years time. With all the tickets being sold, plus the draw games there's no reason to make it twice as hard to win. It's a cash grab by the state!

It’s misleading. I thought the same thing at one time of my life. I think the ratio is on the entire run printed of that particular game they claim about 1 in 4 is a winner or whatever they say the odds are of the game you’re playing. I’ve already scratched 10 tickets at $30 each in a row and lost and the odds were 1 in 3.69 so how does that happen? Lol the answer is “it’s the lottery” and you’re taking a chance. I too called them and they of course talked down to me. I was mad for awhile but I still play. IMO the best way to make sure you win at least half of your money back is to buy a book of whatever ticket you like.

They're not rigged. # of winning tickets/# of tickets = probability of winning. A $5 win (money back) counts towards the # of wins. Each ticket is an independent event with mutually exclusive probabilities. There's no guarantee that the 4th ticket will win. It's entirely possible to have 20 wins in a row or 20 losses in a row.

The odds are based off every ticket of that particular game in that state. Not off each book. In order to do this properly you’d have to buy a book, or every ticket in the state. A book has a guaranteed payout. For example a $300 book of $1 tickets can guarantee $120 worth of winners.

I work in the gambling industry and can assure you that no one ever wins any money. Yeah you might win one or two games and come out on-top, but these are addictive and you'll keep playing. You could play 1,000,000 of these games and I would bet everything I have you'll lose money.

The only real (but not easy) way to make money gambling long-term is with sports, assuming you have a statistical model in place. It is definitely a grind but it's do-able. I bet on sports on the side and basically treat it like a job rather than a get-rich-quick scheme. If you win 55% of games at even money, you're making a nice return, especially if you use compound interest to your advantage.

Before the pandemic I could not lose money on the scratcher tickets. I would purchase tickets from different stores, choose those that still had big prizes and wouldn't buy more than one or two of the same tickets from the same place. Post pandemic the most I win (using the same techniques) is the occasional free ticket or $2.00. Remember that the money from the Missouri Lotto/Scratchers goes into the general revenue fund for the state unlike other states where it all goes to education. The pandemic has hit the economy with devastating effects. During the pandemic most people had little or no income except for the checks the Federal Government mailed out which in most cases was $1400-3000 US dollars. Since most people didn't have the disposable income to purchase scratcher tickets (and may still be trying to recover financially) it is my belief that the Missouri Gaming Commision has reduced the odds (lowering payouts) on the tickets so as to not burden the Missouri General Revenue Fund come tax time. The only proof that I have is my own experience over the last couple years. If people aren't producing income due to the pandemic, they will not have income to claim come tax time. The state ends up with less revenue. If you read the paper or WWW the only people that got rich during the pandemic were the CEO's of the pharmaceutical and medical corporations.

If the odds of winning a scratch off ticket were in favor of the player then there would not be people posting videos of how to win playing the scratch off lottery games. I just watched your full video. if they sell 1000 tickets then 250 are winners. according to the 1 in 4 rule the 250 winners could be in the last books they sell. if the game ends and they do not sell the last 4 books with the big winners then you never had a chance to win that prize. If you put 20 scraps of paper in a hat and 5 of them have a w on it, your chances/odds of getting a w is 1 in 4 but that doesn't mean you'll pick a w within every fourth selection. There's a chance you pick no w's until the 16th pick. It's not probable, but it's possible. Multiply that by a million and you can thousands of entire lottery ticket rolls without any winners.

OK, if you gamble, you should plan for the failure in advance, and try to make it positive. Instead of dumping $50 just on tickets, start with a $25 bottle of Jim Beam, then $25 on tickets. You won't lose everything, unless you try to drive back to get more, and a cop gives you one of his tickets.

Ok this post is old, but as a regular player I can tell you that so many losers in a row is unusual. Keep in mind some tickets have 2 or more prizes on 1 ticket, I have also had at least two tickets that I have won all the prizes on that ticket, mine have been the cost of the ticket so that one would pay $75.

This guy obviously doesn't understand scratchers at all. Just because newer tickets have more prizes left that doesn't increase your odds of winning. It just means there are more rolls of the ticket out there since it's new... Also, losing on a lot tickets in a row can be pretty common. However, rolls will payout at least half the value of the entire roll. Honestly, if you do the math, your chances of winning a big prize are pretty high up there. Thousands of rolls of each scratcher game are made. So honestly if you're going to spend money on scratchers, you should play thirty dollar ones. Otherwise, go play blackjack at the casino... way better odds. And also, people that say they aren't angry like that are usually angry. Lol.

I understand that it sucks to have 8 losing tickets in a row, but it’s not that difficult to understand. The odds for winning are 1:4 (1 in 4) and that is for the entire game meaning odds of winning for “The Entire Game” like the gal said and that is 1:4 odds of a winning ticket meaning a ticket that pays out any amount whatsoever from $1 to $jackpot. So if the game prints 1,000 tickets 10 rolls of 100 tickets each roll there are only 250 winning tickets mixed amongst those 10 100 ticket rolls, leaving 750 losing tickets so depending on where the winners are randomly placed you could very well have a few 100 ticket rolls that are entirely made up of losing tickets. Or the possibility of an entire roll filled with 100 winning tickets. Even if they printed the tickets with each roll having guaranteed odds of 1:4 winners in each roll that’s only 25 winners and 75 losers in every 100 ticket roll which still leaves players with significant odds of scratching 8+ losers in a row… I mean you gotta think about it from a business standpoint. If the odds of winning were in the players favor then lottery tickets would be a business model that could never succeed and would not allow them to give away a jackpot prize to the one lucky ticket holder worth thousands of dollars.
