It was so hard for me back in the late 60's. No social media. No computers. and coming out was a way to be avoided by most people. You kids are luckier today. Jake is another story because he was an all american. what courage.

Not really. He's more accepted because he's playing a male dominated sport. Football for Christ sake... If he was wearing makeup and talked with a lisp it would be a TOTAL different story. Society only approves of masculine things.

Years ago it was "news" when a black player was signed to a major league sports team. Maybe one day something like this brave young man "coming put" will not be news. Hopefully sooner than later homophobes will be relegated to the "dustbin of history" like the kkk.

Best wishes to Jake, he's the kid who lives in everybody's neighborhood who has grown up to be a real man of character, standing tall for his identity despite what any else might think. Hopefully, sometime soon his story will become a non-issue because as a society, we will finally look at how a person lives their life rather than who they may love.

The fact that LGBT+ people still require to "Come Out" is just sad to me. Why can't being LGBT+ a natural thing that don't require people to do some Coming Out ritual?
@AlexS-oj8qf
@AlexS-oj8qf 5 жыл бұрын
@Young God Yes, but why we want things to be natural? I mean our whole life is Human trying to change things from Natura to something else. Lamps isn't Natural, God created Stars and the Moon as natural lights and we invent lamps so much that we can't even see God's creation now.
@thatbitch3254
@thatbitch3254 4 жыл бұрын
@The Unknown you haven't demonstrated that god exsists, and homosexuality is proven to be natural sexyal variation in humans and animals. You you saying that it's "not natural" is wrong.. Abd the god thing is irrelevant until it's proven that there is creator.

Very disappointed that this brave young man has to waste his energy to be himself and win games at the same time. He plays team sports. But the homophobes don't include him when they say "we won" from the stands. They are not fit to clean the dirt off his shoes.

What an amazing young man... It indeed takes a great deal of courage and guts to come out the way he did in front of a school assembly and at such a critical moment in his life just before getting a scholarship. He could have taken the cowards route and kept it to himself...like I did...to my ever lasting regret. Onward and upward young man....God speed.

Why on earth is his sexual life such a big deal?? It has nothing to do with his sports ability or his character. He is a responsible adult. That’s all anyone needs to be concerned with.

It's young people like this that will change our world. I wish their were more adults who believe in their fellow man as this boy does. It takes guts and a true heart.
