Triple Play is a favorite tradition here at Missouri Star. Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own, unique spin on a favorite block, technique, or template. In this episode, the talented Doan ladies show off three fabulous new Dashing Star, or LeMoyne star, quilt patterns.
Natalie's Scattered Shoofly Stars is a modern masterpiece with big lemons stars and decorative shoofly sashing. Her fabric is Daisy Fields 10" Stackers by Beverly McCullough of Flamingo Toes for Riley Blake.
Misty's Star Dancer features stars in two sizes. She whips up scores of itty-bitty stars using the easy 16 method for making speedy half-square triangles. Her fabric is the Country Rose Layer Cake by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics.
Jenny’s Scrappy Dashing Stars dazzles with intricate piecing, but it's all made with quick and easy strip sets. Her fabric is the Buttercup and Slate Jelly Roll by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics.

This is my favorite Triple Play so far, because you all seemed in sync, and I love scrappy designs. Helpful to see two quilts made from squares and one from strips. The way Misty flipped and slid that little Lock Block gizmo around was like discovering how to solve a Rubik’s cube. And the cutting-three different ways to reach the desired outcome. Y’all, that is encouraging for us viewers as we adapt your lessons into our own skills. Thanks for all the smiles.

My first quilt was a Hunter's Star. Oh my it seemed so hard! I watched Jenny's tutorial 40 times. It has pride of place in my house. All in browns and greens on ivory. I swore I'd never sew a 16 patch again. I didn't square those blocks hahaha.

I like Jenny's quilt the best. I love those big stars! I also love that it uses a jelly roll, which is my favorite pre cut. I like Natalie's and Misty's quilts too, but Jenny's stood out for me this month. And let me wish MSQC an early Happy Birthday! I wish I could be there, but not this year. There are too many weddings and other events going on in my family this year.

Love this triple play so much🥰. The original dashing star pattern was so great because the finished star blocks are big so making a bed size quilt is fast & easy. I was pretty new to quilting when I made my 1st one but it came out so beautiful I knew I would use the pattern again. Natalie's new version is amazing, The offset blocks with the little churn dash blocks adds so much visual interest and movement. I also love that you don't need additional border fabric to create a beautiful, bed size quilt. It would be very easy to make this quilt bigger by adding borders too. Misty's quilt is also beautiful, The only change I might make is to use a print layer cake & a print Jelly Roll since it is very easy to make the smaller stars using the strip tube method with the slotted trimmers to eliminate the waste. Jenny's scrappy stars quilt is a wonderful invitation to create a beautiful scrappy quilt very easily & economically by using a Jelly Roll, BG fabric & border fabric Or I could also use my stash fabrics, My stash seems to have a supernatural quality in that it seems to keep growing bigger no matter how much I use so I love patterns that encourage/invite using them. All of these patterns are terrific so can't pick a favorite this time :)Thank You MSQC for another awesome Triple play!
