This lecture is more of Open Channel Hydraulics than Geotechnical Engineering.

Lar M -- It helps one to understand certain aspects of Geotechnical Eng. such as Flooding & Droughts, eventhough they are at opposite ends of the Spectrum, if he/she has some Knowledge of Hydraulics.

This is more of Engineering hydraulics or Engineering Hydrology.

The purpose is to understand flooding and hydrology to support knowledge in engineering geology. Dr. Rogers mentions this in earlier lecture about the upcoming guest speaker.

oussama Ali -- Dr. Rogers made the statement In one of the videos that he "thought" the Study of Hydraulics/ Hydrology was kind of unnecessary for a Geotechnical / Geological Engineer (he got proven wrong) but he found out later, after graduating, much of the work he gets called on concerns Hydrology. IT IS IMPORTANT, especially if one desires the Knowledge of Dr. Rogers. He is Well Graced with Knowledge.
