First time coming back to kenya after six year the same thing happened to me. Asked the officer to identify himself but he refused. I walked away left him standing there. Kenya must change and do things different. Why would kenya government let corrupt policemen intimidate visitors at the port of entry or anywhere else for that matter. Am new here...just popped into this and I can't get enough of you guys😍😍Few days ago I was in JKIA and a certain police happened to be from my tribe.I was with some friends and we were running some errands.We needed help and by chance we heard that guy talking over the phone in his native language and we didn't hesitate to loose that chance to get help.After he helped us,we took him to that restaurant.. can't remember the name and we bought him lunch. All of a sudden that police started opening up how some of them do their deals like how new people get robbed in the airport.I remember he said there is a place people are taken to get checked but in real sense it's not somewhere safe and I was like wtf🙄

Yes, experienced something similar in Kenya...over 20 years ago. Guys at the airport were holding me and my son up and waiting for a bribe. I didn't understand that right away. I was traveling with my Gikuyu friend, who got through immigration easily and she came back to help me. The people in Kenya are wonderful ... but I will always remember those guards at the airport. My son has a Kenyan name and they didn't think he was my son, too, even though I had his passport. Kenya is a beautiful country and you are right. They should have the people who are the face of the country be more representative of the good people of your country.

Your experience with the police reminds me of my own experience I had with the police at the same airport. I had a police officer tell me that there was something wrong with my visa and that if I don't pay, he would report me to authorities. I ended up being coerced to pay $400 out of fear for nothing. There wasn't even anything wrong with my visa. Thank you for having the courage to speak about this ongoing issue. It is not just in Kenya but all over Africa. Ethiopia is also notorious when it comes to mistreating it's customers. Particularly it's citizens. Thank you once again!

Miss Trudy am a Ghanaian and I have been to the same situation in the hands of Kenya police in 2018 January as a young intelligent businessman guy I decided to visit Kenya to check the economy if I can establish some business there so I was staying in Nairobi Zimmerman close to carrefour mall I was walking one day and two guys approached me and they acted badly to me and they were not wearing uniform too they took my passport and I later got it back it's was a whole lot of issues since then I have promised myself never to step my foot in Kenya again
