Janet Jackson just released an album after 7 years and it shot to number one on ITunes and its number one on the billboard charts. That's basically what Timbaland was talking about, those that RIDE with you RIDE with you and will wait until you come out with something amazing. Janet definitely just did that.

I agree when Timberland said “when your product is so good, you can make them wait”.
@Agloriousburden12 жыл бұрын
I'd wait for missy and Tim. They are part of the classic 90's music. They produced the greatest albums and their songs are great as well.

A great example of an artist that comes out on their own terms is Sade. I love that lady. She is awesome! She NEVER goes with the times, the times move with her. This is such a great interview. Our music class at school needs to hear this.

This show isn’t even worthy of interviewing 2 icons like Missy and Tim. Asking MISSY if she can reinvent? Missy is the Queen of reinventing. Then to ask Tim if he is the best PRODUCER? Smh wow. To argue that Jay Z never changed... They have 20 years in music and are still dope. This show is a joke.

Agreed. Very disrespectful towards these legends/pioneers. The breakfast club is trash, hot mess, & a joke. Don't know why they have millions of viewers/subscribers.

Breakfast club is genuinely one of the worst interviewing podcasts in the circuit. I'll never forget the way they disrespected Mac Miller the entire time he was there.

Missy said it. RESPECT. People don't do this...so right.

True legends and they are talking about how artists must respect the ones who came before. Not steal their styles, come up off of it because the foundation was laid then diss the foundation (a la Nicki Minaj and Kim)...

Don't u people listen... the women wants us the listener. To stop the hatred. Thank u missy. We have to remeber those who paved the way for those singers of today. Thank u missy great interview I agree 100%, music was different and better in the 90s than from music today.

who inspires Missy Elliott? Michael Jackson, Prince.. nothing new? No love you Missy, you´re a true legend, a beautiful person and amazing artist, Timbaland a genius

Wow that's so true what missy said especially for someone that likes to write and make music its best u don't listen to the radio so u can be as original as possible plus music is not what it used to be.And as I watched this I kept seeing the word overdose.

At 23:00 Timbaland has a valid point, that is the way things used to be back in the day. Key words - "USED TO BE" . Unfortunately he fails to realize that few artists nowadays have those ride or die fans like that anymore. Artists now have an expiration date.. Fans are not going to be waiting for years and years and years for Artists who keep promising their fans to put out new music and it never comes out or takes forever to come to fruition (talking to you Lauryn Hill, Dr. Dre, etc.). Fans are either going to become content listening to Artists old/classic music or they are simply going to lose interest after waiting so long. There is so much more out there to listen to. With the internet, and with everybody and their brother having a mixed tape or a cousin putting out underground music, we now have thousands upon thousands of other Artists to chose to listen to. It is all about timing in the music industry, not quality (of the music, voice or message) or quantity. There are plenty of classic Albums out there (Kelly Rowland-Talk a Good Game, Tyrese-Black Rose, etc.) with a great message, beats and vocals behind them that are collecting dust in a bargin bin somewhere in a store that no one will ever hear. And the reason is bad timing. Turn on the radio and listen to what is playing now, stuff that has absolutely no substance what-so-ever, but this is what is hot now. Timing is everything, supply and demand. I hate that is the way it is but it is what it is : /

and Missy as well what she was sayin about diversity! Where is this generation's Public Enemy, Digital Underground, De La Soul, etc..we need more storytellers and fun in hip hop. Truly there's gotta be more to this new hip hop class than shooting somebody, getting drunk, clubbin' and fu**in!

Such a class act. Kids today need more down-to-Earth, kind artists like Missy & Timbaland.

Man I love these two! And Tim is on point "If they rock wit chu, they ROCK wit chu!!" If your music is the truth, you will wait for a good artist! Im not alone when I mention Dr. Dre's "Detox" album. And its no doubt in my mind that Tim was referring to the Trap Beats! because after a while, it starts to sound pretty much like one long ass song...you might slow it down, speed it up or change the key signature, but its pretty much the same beat and monotonous as hell. I like trap beats, but be more versatile, step outside your box and switch it up.

Great interview! I am a fan if Missy and Tim! Thank you for discrediting the whole "irrelevant argument". If one has been thought conscious in making music that truely inspires people, then there is no way they will be irrelevant. Their work and creativity will last a life time! Hence Eta James!

Charlamagne using a laptop from 1995, desk and mice are all literally looking pre-2000. Studio cramped and ugly as hell, a single bottle of grey goose on the window ledge as if it was a sponsor but you know 100% it's not. That's the breakfast club. I think years later they added some cheap LED strips that were sagging all over the place. Amazing that they could get big stars and have such crap production. Genuinely grateful for the re-upload so i don't have to support that crapshow.
