Do you not use spefic primer on the walls to prevent mapping ? And save paint on the subsequent coats ?

Mist coating on plaster is mainly because plaster is too porous to take paint solid ,so it needs to be watered down 40% for the mist coat is fine them it will take full coats after that ,if you don't mist coat the plaster it will dry ,crack and come away from the wall down the road

Why are you saying you can use vinyl Matt as a mist coat? You can not as it has vinyl (plastic in it) has to be Matt Matt!?

You don't have to do 3 coats, you apply enough that it's solid, that could be 2 could be 4 depending on the paint you are using and how good the coverage/opacity is, putting more coats on won't effect the performance.

All the plasterers are leaving that finish now. He said the plaster was sealed but you could see the paint was not soaking in to the plaster.
