On the topic of skipping cutscenes: did you know that due to his Genshin's cutscenes are rendered in real time (think when talking to a Skyrim npc), it's actually not possible to add a skip cutscene button on an engine level. Someone actually did a video on unstoppable cutscenes (I forgot who) and that stuck with me. But I'm glad for those who skip cutscenes to get that button here in ZZZ.

Skip feature means I do not need to be invested in the story regardless of how good or bad it is. People say WuWa's story is great but I wouldn't know. Skip is there so I skip. Most likely true for a lot of people. The absence of a skip forces people to interact with the story. There will be people who will button smash regardless, but there would be a lot more who will give the story a chance and maybe get hooked into the world and the game cause of the story. But hey, if combat is what they want to focus, then the story is possibly trash enough to skip so all is good. Just that, without that hook, people will just like the characters for their cool-factor rather than, well, the character. And it'll be easier to quit the game since I don't have any attachment to the characters and the world since I skipped everything just to gacha gacha gacha like most gacha games. I mean don't get me wrong, the world looks cool and so does the NPC, but that novelty will not last long. Without anything to interest us in the world just than "oh that looks cool," this would be a mediocre game at best in terms of popularity and sales after the initial hype. Well I guess a flop is a first for MHY after GI and HSR. It is what it is.
