To all those who have accepted Islam, always show kindness to your parents wether they accept Islam or not. Just by being patient with them and being gentle will have a major influence on them and they may eventually accept Islam.

Wow, this was the best video I have watched in a long time. It takes a real man to admit what he did and why...it is so helpful. Says it all. I understand totally as a new revert (many decades ago now) how ones emotions get tangled up with ones non Muslim family, and shouldn't. They should become better and with humility. Alhamdulillah. It brought back memories. This was beautiful, a powerful reminder to check ourselves often and very moving. Thank you!

What a big lesson you are giving to all. Thank you for sharing this experience about dealing with your parents. I felt sad for your father especially when you said he was nursing his father yet you did what you did with him. He is a real hero since he did his homework perfectly and he supported you and brought you up well. I saw the same case with born Muslim sons who decide to fully practice Islam when they start to see their own family to be not religious. I always say there must be training courses conducted as to how to behave not only with parents and families but coworkers, friends and neighbours. Best regards

Always remember what Allah says in verse 15 of Surah Luqman. “But if they [parents] endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness and follow the way of those who turn back to Me [in repentance]. Then to Me will be your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.”

The prophets who submitted [to Allāh] judged by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allāh, and they were witnesses thereto. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price [i.e., worldly gain]. And whoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed - then it is those who are the disbelievers. - Saheeh International ﴿وَكَتَبنا عَلَيهِم فيها أَنَّ النَّفسَ بِالنَّفسِ وَالعَينَ بِالعَينِ وَالأَنفَ بِالأَنفِ وَالأُذُنَ بِالأُذُنِ وَالسِّنَّ بِالسِّنِّ وَالجُروحَ قِصاصٌ فَمَن تَصَدَّقَ بِهِ فَهُوَ كَفّارَةٌ لَهُ وَمَن لَم يَحكُم بِما أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُولئِكَ هُمُ الظّالِمونَ﴾ [المائدة: ٤٥] And We ordained for them therein a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds is legal retribution. But whoever gives [up his right as] charity, it is an expiation for him. And whoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed - then it is those who are the wrongdoers [i.e., the unjust]. - Saheeh International ﴿وَقَفَّينا عَلى آثارِهِم بِعيسَى ابنِ مَريَمَ مُصَدِّقًا لِما بَينَ يَدَيهِ مِنَ التَّوراةِ وَآتَيناهُ الإِنجيلَ فيهِ هُدًى وَنورٌ وَمُصَدِّقًا لِما بَينَ يَدَيهِ مِنَ التَّوراةِ وَهُدًى وَمَوعِظَةً لِلمُتَّقينَ﴾ [المائدة: ٤٦] And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous. - Saheeh International ﴿وَليَحكُم أَهلُ الإِنجيلِ بِما أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ فيهِ وَمَن لَم يَحكُم بِما أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُولئِكَ هُمُ الفاسِقونَ﴾ [المائدة: ٤٧] And let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allāh has revealed therein. And whoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed - then it is those who are the defiantly disobedient. - Saheeh International ﴿وَأَنزَلنا إِلَيكَ الكِتابَ بِالحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِما بَينَ يَدَيهِ مِنَ الكِتابِ وَمُهَيمِنًا عَلَيهِ فَاحكُم بَينَهُم بِما أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلا تَتَّبِع أَهواءَهُم عَمّا جاءَكَ مِنَ الحَقِّ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلنا مِنكُم شِرعَةً وَمِنهاجًا وَلَو شاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُم أُمَّةً واحِدَةً وَلكِن لِيَبلُوَكُم في ما آتاكُم فَاستَبِقُوا الخَيراتِ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرجِعُكُم جَميعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِما كُنتُم فيهِ تَختَلِفونَ﴾ [المائدة: ٤٨] And We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allāh has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth. To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allāh willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good. To Allāh is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ. - Saheeh International ﴿وَأَنِ احكُم بَينَهُم بِما أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلا تَتَّبِع أَهواءَهُم وَاحذَرهُم أَن يَفتِنوكَ عَن بَعضِ ما أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ إِلَيكَ فَإِن تَوَلَّوا فَاعلَم أَنَّما يُريدُ اللَّهُ أَن يُصيبَهُم بِبَعضِ ذُنوبِهِم وَإِنَّ كَثيرًا مِنَ النّاسِ لَفاسِقونَ﴾ [المائدة: ٤٩] And judge, [O Muḥammad], between them by what Allāh has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allāh has revealed to you. And if they turn away - then know that Allāh only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient. - Saheeh International

the exact same way i behaved with my father when i was granted yaqeen by Allah , my taqwa was on another level altogether, i was so scared my father would burn in jahannam, , my mother complained that deen had gotten in to my head, and that my believe was abnormal, that shattered me, i was hoping that my mother who prayed five times a day and did most of the ibaadaths would side with me in convincing my father who doesn't pray to do salah and save himself, I knew allah was watching and recording when my mother complained of my increase in iman and that she wasnt as aware of allah as i was. I was so stressed, i was not in any way able physically to leave my house even though i was thinking of hijra, and at the exact time Allah let me know about his attribute of Kaafi, the exact same time i was going through the trauma, I knew Allah wanted me to ponder on Kaafi and garner strength , but my stress forced me to back off from doing nawafil prayers and Quran as I had realized it was my nawafil prayers and Quran that made me dearer to Allah , I walked towards Him and He came running towards me, I experienced that. I backed off from Nawafil and Quran and felt my brain literally being fried because of the guilt of my betrayal, i remember in my utmost suffering i cryingly prayed to allah to make me mad without me losing iman and able to do dawa, i know it sounds unthinkable, but that was the level of stress , i was diagnosed with clinical depression, significantly lost the ability to feel. But Allah has been showing me signs continuously since my diagnosis that he is still with me, things only He could do, To grant me yaqeen Allah had shown me more than a couple of extraordinary things in life, when i started avoiding sins and sacrificing desires for Allah's sake. Its been around a year now, after the sessions with psychiatrists and the way my imbalanced mind behaved at home, my father and mother suffered, they grew more humble, my mother doesnt complain of my deen anymore and instead thanks me and tries to practice it when i teach her some hadeeth or dua or ayah that i have learned. She is the one who guided me in my early years and all throughout my teenage years. But muslims with yaqeen are so scarce in our family that the majority who havent experienced yaqeen thinks that people with yaqeen are abnormal.

Parents must be honored and treated well according to what is stated in the Qur’an, and just as the Prophet did with his uncle Abu Talib, even if they did not accept to convert to Islam. But at the same time, it is not permissible that you say to him my hero and you are my role model. You shouldn't say this. Our hero and our role model must be only the Prophet, his companions and the righteous people. We can treat parents well without describing them as our role models and our heroes and praising them for what they do not have.

This ego thing Hamza is talking about is something i very often stumble upon when i interact with muslims. Even now when i look at some Hamza and Hijab vidz i se it often. It's just like Hamza said "shaitan ego", its evil and aggressive. Think it's something in Islam that makes u this way. When i started to read the Koran i got the exact same feeling that scared me. Aggressive sheitan ego has written this passage (whatever i was reading) because of that i had to stop reading the Koran. I was very sad and could not comprehend how it was possible that muslims could buy in to this blindly and not recognize it. I am happy for Hamza, that he could look upon his actions objectively and be man enough to take responsibility and calm his fathers heart.

I made the same mistake I got an offer to marry someone i wanted to marry her and she wanted to marry me But my parents refused saying you are a child even though i am 21 years old And they wanted me to get marry when i have my own car and house On listening argument from my parents i lose my mind i never raised voice before that to my parents before that At that day I said words that can never be forgiven to my parents But on realizing what i did the next day i grabbed their foot and asked for forgiveness and i promised them i wont ask you for nikah ever again

+ We know in Islam that "following the way of our forefathers" has no basis in our religion and it's actually something looked down upon. We were instructed to follow the way of the sahaba and the salaf, not the way of our forefathers.. barakallahu feekum
