I'm guilty of using too much liquid, laying the product down too close to the sidewalls and cuticle, not curing long enough, creating a thick nail tip, etc. I needed to see this tutorial ages ago!

Leanda Stellato I do the same thing...I always feel...”Don’t get too close to the cuticle, but Close enough so it doesn’t look like it’s been a week since applying it, either” annnnnnnd, I END UP GETTING TOO CLOSE, LOL. BUT, I am just starting with the Polygel...Also learning the ratio as she speaks about is something that I have just learned as I go...She is so great at explaining everything like you say!

That's the beauty of polygel vs. acrylic though - you can shape it and get it solid and then go back with your brush or orange stick and just lightly clean out around the cuticle and side walls :D

The special liquid is alcohol. Don't be fooled. 70% is good enough. Just don't use acetone. Aside from that, very good tips.

I'm not a nail technician but I absolutely love your delivery, you don't treat those of us watching and listening like we're idiots or stupid, your honesty is what's refreshing. If I'm lied to I simply do NOT return & I'm living in central London so I've my pick of places I can go to, to be honest I'm swamped by nail shops! So please., anyone who is a nail technician don't lie to us, or if you do chances are you're lying to yourself also, if you mess up be honest and study harder, listen more and pay attention. Don't abuse your clients loyalty & if I'm happy not only am I loyal I tip too, the experience if it's good makes my day and believe me my life's not easy! A trip to the nail salon might be my first day out for myself in weeks, as I'm a carer. We're not all doing the TV show, The Only Way is Essex,😅 honest!!!!

Really good video! I picked this up as a pandemic hobby. I'd done my own acrylics in the past, and after reading about polygel I decided to try it. I'll never go back! I've made several of these mistakes, but the first ones were not prepping my nails correctly and using cheap polygel. The old saying, "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here. I use pre-forms, and they help with getting that curved shape. I've tried doing it without the pre-forms and they just don't look right. I also use alcohol for a slip solution (70%), and it works great as long as I don't use too much. Definitely had an issue with that in the beginning. I rarely have lifting issues, and if I do it's either because I didn't prep the nail right or it didn't cure right. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge!

Im guilty of using too much liquid. I used the dual forms to create my nails and since it was my first time I didn't think it was ok for the brush to sort of stick to the product which in turn made me unconsciously thin the product out too much for some of the nails. When I cured them some turned out completely hollow so I kinda just stuffed them with extra product lol 🤦‍♀️ Now when I began to file them off just about every single one was still gooey in the middle. This video seems very helpful so I'll keep it in mind for the next time. Thanks so much!!

Good tips. Thank you. I used to much liquid and too thin layer and my nails were not sticking. I will try your advice. :)

I recently started using polygel and did in fact notice that the base coat was sticky when it came out of the lamp. I did not wipe it for fear of causing the polygel not to stick. I had one heck of a time with slipping and I was unable to shape the underside of my nail without the entire dualform slipping off. For the last two weeks of my attempts I have had lifting, cracking and breaking. I am now too irritated to mess with them again because I know that I will get upset and sling the stuff across the room. lol.. I am now watching every single "how to" video so that I can get this right. At this moment I have my left hand with a full set of 5 nails and my right hand with my thumb, middle, and pinky finger only and those are lifted, and chipped. (eye roll). When I tried fixing my left hand I was already so irritated that I was going to try and make sure that I was going to get it to stay. I remembered how strong the Rhinestone gel nail glue was and I drilled down the lifted parts and prepped the exposed nail and then covered the exposed nail with the rhinestone gel glue. It worked. I am not going to continue that because I only have a small amount. I want to accomplish the polygel anyway. I just can't seem to get the apex strong enough and keep the product off my cuticle. This time I am just going to leave an orange stick space and just keep practicing. If anyone has any tips that might work for me please let me know.

Just starting out to do my own nails. Thank you for your video. I now know why the nails remained sticky underneath, and also why one broke.

I have a little question: is it possible to do a manucure with popits/ dual forms and polygel on bitten nails with a small bed area? Like very short bitten nail...? I’ve heard that it can be dangerous to put those products on your skin... I’ve find a video for bitten nails and forms but not with duals forms... that’s why I’m asking... thanks!

What can I use for the dehydrator step? Would any of these work: %70 Isopropyl alcohol, %99 Isopropyl alcohol, or professional Acetone (contains only Acetone & Denatonium Benzoate)? Or, is there a specific product I need to get that just cannot be substituted? (BTW don't worry, I'm not a Nail Technician or an Aesthetician. I would just like to do my own nails.) Thanks.

I have used too much liquid , applied product too thick . I also have used a polish remover as my slip and still do at times but never had any issues doing so . What do you recommend when a polygel is super sticky ?
@Nailcou
@Nailcou 5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the ingredients, some of them will work if they don't contain oils. For super sticky polygel I can also recommend any thin consistency soak off base coat - lightly apply on on the brush. I use polygel liquids and 90% alcohol works pretty good

Great video! I have used too much liquid (I use 70% alcohol). I’m also guilty of too close and thick! I also thought something was wrong with my white and some other colors! I literally thought I was crazy!!I Thanks for this video!

My polygel nails are popping up at the cuticles. I think it's because I'm not doing it thin enough at the cuticle or edges. And it's too thick at the tips. This video was extremely helpful xx
