They also had great community and fan support with constant feedback from 343 on everything that's going on. Plus from the launch the servers have been performing amazingly.

They purposefully hired Joe Staten just because of infinite's development was in deep trouble and that they used him for the bad news in the season update announcements. 343i's leadership also pretty much hardly ever listened or took any of his suggestions regarding the story or some other parts of infinite. It partly explains why we got hardly any content to play with at launch, and why the game as a whole wasn't really an improvement or comparable to the previous OG bungie halo games that had better robust maps and gameplay (for the most part excluding halo reach) than what 343i made.

When everyone got hyped for infinite I tried to remind them of the Halo 4 and especially Halo 5 hype and following disappointments. But people don't seem to learn that hype is dangerous. After the E3 trailer i am currently carefully optimistic due to the artstyle changes, but if 343 fucks up infinite as well, halo is going to sink into unimportance real quick. They gotta nail this one or it's over.

Axilo it wasn‘t necessary to say this during the Halo CE - Reach era. People thought Halo 4 would be great as well, so they didn‘t even think of leaving the Halo series behind, until they realized what a mess it was at release. For Halo 5 most people thought 343 had learned their lesson, so they got hyped again. Admittedly, I got a bit carried away too. But after the Beta not having Splitscreen I got a bit wary and started tempering expectations. Turns out Halo 5 was even more of a mess. So by now every Halo made by 343 was somewhat of a mess (Halo Wars 2 excluded, that’s a creative assembly game. Although look at Blitz, lots of p2w there). If they mess up Infinite as well, that would be the third main line game in a row that wouldn’t live up to expectations. By then everybody should at least realize that it’s not gonna get any better and move on from the series. At least that’s my take on the whole situation.

One other problem with MCC, They ported the PC versions of CE (I think 2 as well) for console gamers. As someone who played the console version I was so confused as to why the CE pistol felt so inaccurate in multiplayer. Then I found out this wasn't the original version of the game. (facepalm) An especially dumb decision IMO since probably the majority of the people that are gonna buy the game would be people that played the console versions of the games. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they didn't know the PC port is much worse but seeing the other mistakes and bad decisions they've made it's really hard to do that.

@IGTEW2 the CE pistol had different stats for multiplayer on console. It was more accurate in multiplayer than campaign. The company that ported to PC for whatever reason put the campaign stats for multiplayer pistol and 343 used the PC version as the basis HCE Anniversary and HCE MCC.

This was a well made video. Although, it could've been better. Halo has and will always be campaign AND multiplayer focused, and you chose to mention the campaigns of H4 & 5 a total of zero times. The campaign of H4 was widely praised by fans and critics, while H5's campaign was generally disappointing. I just think that when you make a video talking about 343 industries involvement with the Halo franchise, you should go over everything they did: Forge, campaign, customs, multiplayer, theater. Speaking of forge, Halo 5 has by far the best forge in the franchise, no question. You didn't mention that. That's another problem with this video, when you title it "How 343 Industries Has Affected Halo" you can't just say all the negatives without including the positives. Still, it was pretty well done, just a little too pessimistic imo.

​@@ThePilleroflightning okay, before this breaks down any further, I'll say that, while Halo 4's campaign was almost universally hated at launch, for several well founded reasons, those who enjoyed the campaign have sprung up in numbers, as well as becoming more vocal about said enjoyment. I've seen fans claim that Halo 4's story was the best in the series, though I disagree personally, but I understand it does have merits that make the story atleast, enjoyable, most of which involve Chief and Cortana, and Chief and Lasky/Del Rio. These elements, as well, are not perfect, as Chief's and Cortana's characters are completely incoherent from their trilogy selves, and Del Rio was admittedly just a character for the purpose of creating drama (but that's how good writing works, he does create good drama). But the Forerunner stuff is that which is widely condemned, rightfully for being confusing, played out and underdeveloped. The campaigns of Halo 2, 3, ODST, and even Reach (which I also consider overrated on one side and underrated by the other) are all stronger in my opinion, but 343 did some pretty interesting things in the game, no one can deny that. None of the stories in the Halo games have been truly top tier, great stories. Halo 2, while expertly written, left off on an unsatisfying cliffhanger due to lack of development time (all of Halo 2's flaws can be blamed on that), and Halo 3, my personal favorite story of the series, still suffers from some character misrepresentations, plot holes and less than stellar writing (still not bad though). Reach and ODST both suffer from a lack of character distinguishment and development, however ODST does it better. Reach also suffers from totally switching gears and motives 3 quarters through with the Package. Halo CE just doesn't have enough story in general (I'd suggest reading the Flood for that, totally recontextualizes the campaign and improves it drastically.) I'm hoping Halo Infinite can finally pull off a story for the series on the level of Uncharted 4 or even (don't hurt me) COD: Black Ops 1 and 2

343 has failed time and time again to gain back credibility concerning the Halo franchise. The bugs associated with the H2 port to PC only proves this. I'm only getting more concerned about Halo Infinite especially since it's been almost 5 years since Halo 5's release and we still have zero information concerning the game. We were supposed to have a beta but it seems very likely that will not be happening in this time frame. I just don't want Infinite to launch in a broken mess and for them to use the same tired ass excuse of 'well it worked in our in-studio testing, we just couldn't plan for what could happen when everyone else got their hands on the game' especially if they aren't going to be making a beta. This time during Halo 5's dev cycle we had already played the Beta like 4 months ago in January 2015 and yet with Infinite we know next to nothing. I really hope they're just saving up all their surprises and that they have something big to show us, but I can't be blamed for being sceptical.

Maybe Halo Infinite's story might be good based on what we saw in the trailer, but I have no effing clue what the gameplay is gonna be like. That shows that Halo doesn't have it's identity anymore, and that's on 343. But conversely, we can't say they don't care about halo. If you are willing to build an entirely new engine for a game, it's hard for me to say they don't care. What I'm getting at here is that they do indeed care, it's just that their overall incompetence and confusion of direction has led to them not being as successful. That being said, I won't deny I am still excited for Halo Infinite, because it's new halo game. Taking into account what's happened to the franchise, the fact we are still going to get a new halo game is enough cause to celebrate. Fingers crossed the gameplay is good.

Don't get me wrong, the campaigns are a huge part of Halo. Single player games really aren't my taste but I'm fully aware that they matter to a whole lot of people. I know there's been other Halo KZbinrs that have been quite critical of Halo's storylines in some of the newer titles. Perhaps those guys could provide more perspective. My channel revolves around the multiplayer for the most part so I do apologize for not including campaign into this video. Totally appreciate your perspective though - hopefully Infinite does have a solid campaign.

Wow, I've only really gotten involved with 343 since mcc came to pc and while my own experience since then has rang true with their fully incompetent, lazy and unwilling nature, I had no idea how flat out unprofessional, rude and immoral these idiots are. There are so many other things that were wrong not mentioned in this video, I quit halo towards the end of halo 4 and was a top player, so I can't speak about MCC and h5. But take a look at this list of issues I had in h4 not mentioned in video: 1. Weapon despawn times 2. overpowered automatic weapons 3. Join in progress allowing teams to invite players to the game onto their team and give them a numbers advantage, as well as putting people into hopeless games where one team has lost all map control and is down 4 flag caps before you spawn. 4. Most CSR ranks not being based on wins, but individual scoring, making people not play like a team. 5. Extremely successful firefight not being continued, instead they introduced "Spartan Ops." and so on and so forth. There is also an issue on 343's website where all the mods are casual players, most of the competitive community has received permanent bans on 343's website, all my friends have been banned (including myself) for extremely silly things, so not only do they NOT care about the competitive community, they are actively trying to silence it!!!

I don’t know why everyone is in such hysterical hype over halo infinite when 343 always says ‘we’re listening to fans now’, puts out some awesome marketing and then the game releases and it’s utter trash. On the Master Chief Collection, Halo 2 classic is unbearable for me to play online. The hits scans are really weird and it’s very frustrating. I’m from California and have an Ethernet cable connected to my Xbox One X so my ping is usually extremely high. Idk. I really wish 343i would do something

It's a shame TeamBeyondEntertainment deleted their podcasts. A lot of pros and future 343 employees at the time gave their unfiltered opinions. That would have given you a lot of material to work with for this video. If you go to the youtube channel you can see the playlists are still up with the videos deleted. At least the last time I checked. I suspect they deleted all of that stuff to cover their tracks and not anger 343. Great video though.

343 is so disgustingly arrogant and woefully inept. It’s so sad to see that MCC is still broken 5 years after launch, and how they respond to negative feedback. Infinite having a classic art style is great and all, but going by their track record we can only hope for the best but likely expect the worst. If Infinite launches with enhanced mobility as a core part of the gameplay, it truly shows they’ve never listened, and likely never will. They’ve bastardized Halo into a CoD in Space game.

This video is great, it has an awesome research of information, but needs something...more information about microsoft, a lot of the bad decisions about Halo were caused by Microsoft forcing 343i, it´s not a coincidence that when Microsoft rectified a lot of things about Xbox...the same happened to 343i, it is known that Microsoft forced the launch of TMCC and changed things about Halo 5 and other things, Microsoft needs a video and criticism too, maybe more than 343i, Halo started to raise again a little when Xbox/Microsoft did it too, since the beginning i felt like that, Microsoft influence on Halo losing popularity is pretty damn obvious.

Ranking is far from balanced still. I'm currently a 44 in h3 hardcore and constantly get teammates below lvl 30 and get matched against players like evadur and hunter 2 50s plus there teammates above lvl 40.

I play MCC occasionally. Has it gotten better? Absolutely. Players aren't inconvenienced with the "quit the build" ideology anymore and the implementation of MCC's "match composer" option was a good move by 343industries. However, the playlist management could certainly be improved as well as 343industries fixing game-specific issues in CE, H2, and H3. I know they're working on things now in preparation for the MCC PC release but time will tell. The game has gotten better since 2018 for casual players though.

I know a lot felt Halo 5's multiplayer was 'the best' but it still is my least favorite (and I really didn't like a lot of stuff Reach and 4 had). I can't stand shoulder bash and ground pound, sprint still being present, uninspired maps, least favorite menu UI, and big team has no real maps but forge remakes. Plus even the social aspect in 5 was pretty hardcore since they decided to still have hidden ranking present making what should have been a relaxing time a MLG event every time you wanted to try and play a social mode. Not having Halo 3's 1-50 and replacing it with seasons was also lame. We can never go back to the glory days of Halo 3 or even Halo 2 ranks where they were visible on everyone;'s nameplate and gave you a reason to want to play ranked non-stop. I could care less about Onyx or Champ rank in 5 becasue in a month or so it all resets anyways. I still play MCC often, I just don't like the new halos nearly as much as they have tried to 'modernize' Halo into something its not. Why do we need sprint to make the game feel 'faster'? They could have just upped the base movement speed like DOOM 2016 does to make faster gameplay for example.

After everything they've done it's impossible to display their faults any other way. The level of change to Halo felt spiteful from the developers. They specifically stated flighting MAY start in April if all things go as planned. Prior to August of 2018, the last update MCC received was in October of 2015. It's disingenuous to say 343i has focused on fixing MCC "for years" when that truly hasn't been the case. From October of 2015 to October of 2017, players who frequently played MCC had no idea when/if MCC would ever be fixed. In my opinion, making money was the incentive behind fixing MCC. They touted Xbox One X enhancements, the Halo: Reach port and MCC PC. 343i will be charging players for MCC PC. This is ironic as previous Halo titles such as Halo Wars 2 was a "Play Anywhere" game meaning if you purchased it on the Xbox platform, you'd be able to play it on the PC free of charge. www.pcgamer.com/halo-wars-2-will-not-support-cross-platform-play/

It will increase popularity. That said, with popularity comes criticism. The current issues on MCC aren't going to magically disappear on PC; The game must be completely fixed which is why 343i is opting to release the titles one by one.

Halo is now yesterday’s franchise. It had a very tidy three part story, and you could tell the franchise was on the way out after one prequel, and one alternate perspective game. An experiment as a RTS was a disaster of a game, it should have continued trying to make movies or a TV show and expanded the franchise away from the master chief. But alas, it was sold on, became generic rushed buggy mess.
