Very cool it's interesting to see this come together over time and it's just great to watch people enjoying their 64s :) I'm just starting to dip my toe in the MiSTer project and have been researching. Not sure if ya'll touched on this in the video but I'm also interested in the Analogue 3d as a more plug and play option down the road. Be curious to here how those two setups differ if at all.

For playing games in MiSTer I'm just going wired. I have the classic playstation to USB adapter for PS3 and it lets me use my PSOne Dual Shock perfectly, And I even beat Zelda 64 just remapping the C buttons uniquely putting one of them on the right stick press one on the R2 and the others on Triangle and Circle. Its a minor change to get use to Vs original N64 controller. I really want to use my original but misplaced my Adaptoid USB adapter.

GBA is a mobile system and so has a very different power envelope than SNES. Its 32bit probably purely because it was better to use an off the shelf ARM that was inherently more power efficient.

Re: what's the point of a 32-bit CPU if the GBA is still less powerful than an SNES: the GBA has to handle audio mixing in software (i.e. on the CPU), high-end SNES games have additional processors (the SA-1 chip in SMRPG runs at triple the speed of the SNES CPU!) and the GBA is doing all that with 1/3 the power consumption of the SNES.

I can't play 30 fps games on an OLED display because of the stutter. I can play them on a plasma or CRT though.

as a huge Shenmue fan,Yakuza is definitely the evolution of Shenmue.it shares so much DNA with Shenmue but ofcourse they are much more violent,mature and grown up version.one of the best game series of all time.Yakuza Like A Dragon (and the upcoming Infinite Wealth) are different though because of turn based JRPG combat vs brawler action style which imo ruined the flow of the game. if Shenmue was a 15 year old boy Yakuza is the same boy at the age of 25.

Wow @Try. Couple of things you need to know. 1. Every 6th gen console can do Full Screen Anti Aliasing (a.k.a. SSAA) just fine. However running SSAA on 480p or higher resolution costs too much performance. For example running 2x SSAA on a 480p Dreamcast game would have to internally render at double the resolution on one of the axis (1280x480p or 640x960p) before scaling it back to true 480p. That would put a lot of strain on the GPU. Some N64 games only have to internally render to 640x240p before scaling back to true 240p. Plenty of games render and output in high resolution on both PS1 and Saturn. 2. SNES is not more powerful than GBA in any metric. GBA runs some 3D games with texture mapping, runs both Doom games much better than SNES with GSU-2 and same for other SNES games running GSU-2, SA-1, DSP etc. GBA is very limited by Nintendo giving it such a limited display and speaker. A higher resolution screen with a backlight and better speakers would have fixed GBA. Power is not the limiting factor of the GBA.

[Try4ce] Oh I know that many PS2/GameCube/Xbox games do have proper anti-aliasing (I mentioned Xenosaga 3), but it was not standard as it typically was for N64. However, a lot of people think it was, just because GameCube and Xbox almost always have a flicker filter on (which personally, I don't think looks that good today compared to not having it). The flicker filter is not the same thing as AA but I think some people mistake it for AA.
