On a Philippine TV show she actually says during the production of Miss Saigon she was losing her voice but they/someone payed for her to get lessons in classical training so her voice wouldn't get ruined.

@@kawaii33366 that's because the vocal cords are such tiny muscles that its easy to detect when were hurting them. They will always tell us when were hurting them or using unnecessary tension to produce a sound. With singing, we know exactly when were using the muscles correctly and we make sure we dont injure them with things such as rest and consistent exercising.

I don't think techincally difficult singing can kill a good voice if you've had proper training. But forcing it without proper training will, and so will singing when you're suffering from a resüiratory illness. I don't know the exact link but I'm sure I've seen at least one clip of Idina here where someone remarked on her sounding different and someone else proceeded to mention that she had been ill at the time. It's practically like dancing on pointe while already having a stress fracture in the foot.
@jerp1367
@jerp1367 4 жыл бұрын
@@christianealshut1123 It's called vocal nodules, and for sure she had them. She had to get surgery and the regular stuff. Sometimes it doesn't even matter if you use proper technique or not, simply singing too much can bring about nodules. That is why it is very important to rest it as much as possible, especially if you are in show business. Julie Andrews had vocal nodules, and she was a stellar singer, yet she sang too much

@@uhmno7944 Take voice lessons, or don't belt at all. It's not for everyone. Work on a lighter head voice, not hitting those notes with chest voice (especially if you are a girl, considering men's vocal cords are thicker and generally can sustain some abuse)

Just imagine what it would be like if someone did this video again like 30 years from now... pretty sure the lineup would include: 1. Ben Platt ("Waving Through a Window") 2. Barrett Wilbert Weed ("Dead Girl Walking") 3. Sophia Anne Caruso ("Dead Mom") And OF COURSE... 4. Lin-Manuel Miranda (literally anything because I can't narrow it down to one song)

Also what is up with Idina's televised performances? She consistently sounds great at live performances that aren't as high profile, but she historically has been struggling at performances that were televised, even at the Tonys and Oscars. The recent 15th anniversary performance also wasn't as good as this one!

@@livelaughlove0209 belting is a "damaging" form of singing, because you're forcing your chest voice higher than it naturally goes...across years if you're constantly belting, it'll wear on you...but you can learn proper techniques to minimize the effects

So imagine this, 8 shows a week and you belt high notes. That's basically destroying your voice, but I have heard a lot of actors and actresses that there is a way to protect your voice. One perfect example is Natalie Weiss since she uses a lot mix in her singing! ❤
@Belle-xi3oe
@Belle-xi3oe 5 жыл бұрын
Jimmy Wise Belting in of itself is not damaging (if done with the proper technique) and has nothing to do with pitch, so you’re not forcing it to go higher. Belting is placing your sound sound forward in your mouth, essentially.

The problem is her technique it sounds like. Shes adopted some bad vocal habits over the years and in that clip you can REALLY hear it. She was going super wide on her vowels and her layrnx was sky high. Even in the old clip, her layrnx shot up on the final E. I dont think she shouldve tried to sing notes THAT high in the first place.
