Fun video back then, hilarious video now - as the 1989 Permian Panthers memorialize their state championship, as well as earn redemption from their Friday Night Lights 1988 loss to Dallas Carter, with this 80's boy-band hit.

The biggest high school generations were 90s to early to maybe mid 2000s 5a high schools in Texas. They were freakish big and looked like 30 year old guys, I noticed a decline in size (I'm not talking about height but size and development) in the late 2000s. And an extreme decline as the 2010s started and went on. The weirdest thing about gen z is that they aren't lighter in weight per se than other generations. But yet alot smaller and less developed as a whole. It's weird.

@mistermojo662 жыл бұрын
No parade, but we did have an assemble in the school auditorium, and ESPN Scholastic Sports America showed up to award us the mythical national championship. A clip of it is in the first part of this video. I never understood why Comer was not more sought after. Recruiting was different back then...if you didn't have the size and other metrics, D1 never looked at us...historically Permian had always been small and scrappy, and so once Boobie Miles got hurt, I guess the recruiters just gave up on any RBs we had. I knew Stoney was going to be good in junior high. He had the height and arm, but he also had calm nerves and could handle the pressure of Mojo QB1, much better than his predecessor in FNL.

Just a thought why was your number 66 when you were a junior but 79 when you were a senior what was the sudden change of numbers for?
@mistermojo662 жыл бұрын
Great question! Permian issues us numbers based on our offensive position (as you know it doesn't matter what your number is on defense) . I was playing guard on offense my junior year... Then at start of senior year they moved me to tight end. So I actually wore #85 for the first 4 games. But later on the.coaches decided to move me back to guard, but an 85 can't play guard. 66 had already been re issued, and only 52 and 79 were available. I picked 79 because that was my number on JV. Made it hard on my family who had all the MOJO gear customized for them by number!
