Hi Eddie, I am 70 and finally have time to improve my maths. Would you be able to put a list up on your channnel or somewhere of videos in order of difficulty...or in groups in order of difficulty. As I am not familiar with current curriculum names I am unsure of where to start and continue. Thanks

I love you, dont stop! This helps me a lot ghost teach pretending to have your enthusiasm and public speaking. what program are you using to display the functions? Desmos?

Dude I love your approach to teaching maths, am in Ireland, only half a year of Secondary school left, from tomorrow my Pre-Leaving Certificate exams are starting, and in June my actual Leaving Cert, and I’ve always had a problem with my maths teachers(not just the fact that my teacher just went on maternity... and am left with a relatively bad one) but their style of teaching is dreadful, you put some enthusiasm in there making it more interesting, what Grade do you teach or do you teach multiple? I’m a 6th year( age 17, and some people in the year are 18 so I dunno the equivalent)

This is AMAZING hands down. The way you teach makes it so interesting.

Ok, found it. It was bad that I didn't have these tools or a teacher like him when I was studying functions. Learning should be fun like I see in these videos. www.desmos.com/calculator

I also recommend GeoGebra, it does something similar. Great explanation Mr Woo, thanks! :3

Hi, I am very confused with order of transformations when graphing. I have two questions below which seem contradictory in terms of the answer for reflections in y and dilation from y: Question 1: The graph of g(x) = x^2 undergoes the following transformations: • reflection in the y-axis • translation 4 units right • dilation of factor 2 from the y-axis • translation 3 units down • dilation of factor 1/3 from the x-axis. Find the rule of the image of the graph. Question 2: The graph of h(x) = 1/x undergoes the following transformations: • dilation of factor 3 parallel to the x-axis • translation 2 units up • reflection in the y-axis • translation 1 unit left • reflection in the x-axis. Find the rule of the image of the graph. What confuses me is the reflection in y and the dilation in x. Can someone please walk me through the solution for each question? Thanks!!

@ekic pekic: I'm not a native speaker and got super confused by the expression "dilation from the ...-axis". My internet research gave me the impression that "dilation from the x-axis" means what I would call "dilation in y-direction" or "vertical dilation". Funnily enough, in Q2 there is a "dilation parallel to the x-axis" which I interpret as meaning the same as "dilation from the y-axis". Based on my assumptions, my solutions would be: Q1: x² -> x² (as function is symmetric towards the y-axis, reflection in this axis has no effect) -> (x-4)² -> (x/2-4)² -> (x/2-4)²-3 -> ((x/2-4)²-3)/3 = (x/2-4)²/3-1 Q2: 1/x -> 3/x -> 3/x+2 -> 3/(-x)+2 = -3/x+2 -> -3/(x+1)+2 -> -(-3/(x+1)+2) = 3/(x+1)-2 But I'm really not sure if I understood the instructions correctly. And I'm actually not sure if "Find the rule of the image of the graph" really asks for the equation of the transformed function.
