I find it fascinating how the schools differ from place to place. In America (or at least my state) students learn functions very rushed before tackling lines. Covering them in year 11 after using different functions so that you can extend that idea is interesting.

What is the difference between f(x) and f ?
@Itz_BlazE_4 ай бұрын
f is notation for Function. And (x) Is Any Number or Variable..... you take any Function f notation For example:- You take Function V and it's Representing Volume V(x) is a function take any value for (x) Let's say we Have to Find Any Volume of SPHERE* So we write V(sphere) = 4/3π r^3 We drive it's Formula* you can find Any Value of function by this.. Try f(x) -> and (x) = x^3 , put any Number for x 4x+9= ?

at 11:31 in the first questions the "1" is in brackets why isn't the "a2" in brackets?
@flam1ngicecream7 ай бұрын
I know this was asked a while ago, but if you're still curious: the brackets are usually used when you have a variable being multiplied by something, and need to replace that variable with a number or longer expression. The brackets aren't needed in the a² example because "2a²" already looks like multiplication.

Pls do Domain and range pls teach its notations of xless than 0and less than 4like that
@carultch Жыл бұрын
Domain is the allowable set of input values. Usually x or t. Range is the allowable set of output values. Usually y. If not otherwise specified that we are interested in complex numbers, both are limited to the field of real numbers. For instance, this tells us that the domain of y=sqrt(x) excludes negative values of x. The domain and range could be the total set of possible values for the function, or it could be a user-limited set, where only a certain interval of the domain is applicable to the problem you are solving. For instance, even though the domain and range of linear functions in general are both all real numbers, you might only be interested in the domain and range that produces positive values for both, if that is what is applicable to the problem. Common notations you'll use for domain and range: A fancy R for all real numbers Square Bracket notation, for inclusive intervals. For instance, x є [-4, 10] would mean the same thing as -4 ≤ x ≤ 10. Round bracket notation for intervals that exclude the end point. x є (-4, 10) would mean the same thing as -4 < x

i think substituting f(u-7) = 2(u-7)^2 + 3 is kind of confusing here, anyone here with the same thoughts?
@lewikj186 Жыл бұрын
It’s not squared. with f(u-7) you just substitute in (u-7) wherever x is. So 2x+3 becomes 2(u-7) + 3, then you expand out the brackets and it becomes 2u-14+3, then you can simplify to 2u-11
