I had the privilege of seeing Misty perform principal in Tchaikovsky's Spectacular with ABT at the Met 3 years ago w/ my then 11yo daughter. To this very day we knew we were in the presence of genius. A few months later I got to sit front & center to see Trevor perform standup on Long Island. Back-to-back blessings! Thank you both for who you are & what you do; we are all the richer for it. And this interview is a most pleasurable pas de deux!

Before the pandemic--literally a few months before, in January-March of this year--I attended a workshop designed specifically to create an accessible working environment for actors who are blind/V.I. so we could get down to the business of performing our art like anyone else. It was a very liberating experience.

I think its wonderful that she pushed past the racism of that instructor cause the color of his/her skin should not be a reason for a person to not do anything. I have seen a young black girl with a prosthetic leg portion learning to ice skate here back when we could go ice skating and I would just smile and be so happy to see that her challenges don't stop her. She has an instructor that see people as equal and its awesome. This is how it should be everywhere.

@deerinheadlights97844 жыл бұрын
@Jim Shrum Prince overdosed on pain pills because his hip pain was killing him. He needed a hip replacement or arthroscopic surgery for a labrum tear I believe (I think it was the former). I live in Minneapolis and my PT was sharing that with me. I have the latter injury myself. He didn't want to get the surgery because the recovery time is long. He was in pain because of his awesome dance moves he'd perform at concerts. He didn't want to sacrifice doing them. He would have had to be crutched up for some time. Hip pain is no joke so I don't blame him for taking pain pills. I can't imagine how bad it was and can in my own ways with my injuries. Hope that helps clarify things.

@@deerinheadlights9784 Must be added that he probably overdosed unknowlingy just following his prescription. Those drugs can have very different effects on different people and a lot of people overdose on them. They need to get banned
@deerinheadlights97844 жыл бұрын
lsamoa true. From everything I’ve heard he also had a really tough time trusting people so he would fire everyone around him. He wanted care to do the things he wanted not necessarily needed. He probably started off with a labrum tear and then needed a hip replacement. I don’t know that he necessarily did the rehabilitation with physical therapy needed. Talking with my hip physical therapist today it sounded like he didn’t. So he found people to give him the prescriptions that he wanted/needed for the pain and probably did get addicted. I also don’t doubt that the pain was so immense because of his injury and not taking care of it that he needed to be on such high doses of the meds. Those dance moves he used to do on stage when he was younger with heels and splits were horrible for his hips. That’s really hard on hips. Lady Gaga has similar hip issues and she went and saw one of the top 3 surgeons in the country for this out of New York. She still struggles with a lot of pain from what I understand and she does what she needs to with following guidance. I can only imagine being rich how difficult it must be to trust people as well, not knowing who wants to be close to you because you’re a celebrity vs authentically help. I feel sad about the situation thinking about it and being able to emphasize with my own hip chronic pains. I agree they need to get banned for sure. It’s those drugs that have people end up addicted to heroin, other opioids, and such since they’re cheaper than the prescriptions. Things like high level quality CBD, meditation, manual work, physical therapy, mental health therapy, community, and more can help so much more. What are your thoughts on alternatives if you’d like to share (I’m curious)? Good point and thanks for bringing it up. Have you seen the war on drugs on Netflix? Our convo is reminding me of that and I found it really informative.
@lsamoa4 жыл бұрын
@@deerinheadlights9784 Agreeing with you 100%. Gosh, I miss Prince terribly, he was such an inspiration :( Sorry to hear about your hip problems. I also suffer from chronic pain, and I was prescribed opioids after a surgery but I was very careful with them and only took a few right after because I had to and then stopped. Was never tempted to take them again. I've tried CBD in the past, it takes the edge of the pain a little but it makes you a bit numb too, and it gives me big headaches, so not for me. I also have a weird condition where most regular pain killers and some anaesthetics have zero effects on me. So I don't really know what works tbh, nothing does for me except for Tramadol and that's definitely not something you should be taking long term so I stay away from it. I'm trying meditation atm but I'm not very good at it haha. Wish me luck! And good luck to you too!

Narrative of Self is the result of a feedback loop between “Separate Self” & Cosmos ♥️ Non-Duality
@hypothalapotamus52934 жыл бұрын
Nah... That's just an Anthropocentric view of the Universe. Humans are just biological computers that think they're sentient. There might not even be one narrative of self. Many worlds interpretation (MWI) of quantum mechanics (QM), which is a way of explaining away wave function collapse/human-centric stuff in Copenhagen interpretation, speculates that human consciousness is tied to a quantum state and that the universe exists as a superposition of states. Rather than a quantum wave function collapsing when observed (cat lives or dies when observed), the observer state becomes correlated with the observed quantum wave function when it is observed (state of consciousness becomes entangled with either live or dead cat state). If the observed quantum wave function is a superposition of many states, the observer's quantum wave function is likely to exist as a superposition of several observer states. Thus human consciousness may exist in parallel branches or what popular fiction might call parallel universes. Bam. Many narratives of self. Is this a resounding endorsement of MWI? No. Whenever I do something with QM, I use Copenhagen interpretation because it's functional and obviously wrong. MWI is likely a product of some people in the 60s taking too many drugs.

Eric Vu-An... Carlos Acosta... There have been many black and ethnic minority ballet dancers perform lead roles (including Swan Lake) in national level companies. Copeland's ABT approved tagline line 'first black principal' is an insult to all the other dancers who came before her. Is she good enough? To take on the roles a principal dancer? Absolutely! Dear precious one, Jesus Christ is with you and for you. You face nothing alone --NOTHING! When you feel anxious, know that you are focusing on the visible world and leaving our Lord Jesus out of the picture. The remedy is simple: Fix your eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen. Verbalize your trust in Jesus, the Living One who sees you always. Make "I trust you Jesus!" your response for every single thing in your life. Your successes, your challenges and everything in between. Trust in the fact that Jesus will get you safely through this day and all of your days. But you can only find Him in the present. Each day is a precious gift from God our Father and Creator, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is rediculous to grasp for future gifts when today's is set before you! Recieve today's gift gratefully, unwrapping it tenderly and delving into its depths. Dear friend, receive Yeshua (Jesus Christ) as the Lord and Savior of your life this very moment! Acknowledge that you are a sinner in need of our Savior Jesus Christ. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord of your life. Believe in what Jesus did on the cross, His death, burial and resurrection for the sins of all mankind. It will be the best decision you will ever make. ❤️❤️❤️ (Romans 8 : 31; 2 Corinthians 4 : 18; Genesis 16 : 13-14) (AMP)
