The medium really doesn't look like your regular gum arabic watercolor. I've noticed asian paintings with a similar consistency. Since a kind of glue tempera is very common in Asia, I am assuming watercolors are also of a different binder, perhaps some sort of glue or size, perhaps something else added into the mix.

@@jrhooman Gouache is a very specific type of "tempera", if you want to put it in the same category. In this case, what I mentioned is *not* gouache, as the binder isn't gum arabic like watercolors, but a type of animal glue.

I am a oil and acrylic type in the usa. This technique is from years of using caligraphy pens and brushes to write and paint. I learn japanese and started using caligraphy brushes to practice writing and just have fun with it and its very different. from there i started doing ink wash paintings its very different painting with this brushes but combining the two is so much fun exploration.

I just CRIED watching beauty in motion, it takes beauty to create it and your soul is overflowing with beauty or the ability to see it! I am moved by not just your skills, Mastery, gift, and talent but by your heart that expresses all this. I know nothing much about this medium but felt that I have not seen anything like it. It was confirmed from reading the comments. You are probably too humble to accept that you are doing something so revolutionary but, you are! I've been doing art thinking it was from passion but you have just gave me a lesson no teaching could and I can't explain. It's what's lacking in this century, the art of creation! You've changed us all who have seen what you do Sir. Thank you for the the privilege of being able to witness the miracle of you!

Every time I watch one of these I wasn’t to both paint immediately, and quit painting at the same time. Lol. Absolutely fantastic job as always. Not a single wasted paint stroke! Thanks for sharing with us! We really appreciate it! (I know I’m not the only one) unreal how much you get done. I know the mixing and cleaning of the brushes is edited out so it’s not over an hr long and you can’t film every single stroke (if your body is possibly in the way for some super fine details) but man it’s just unreal how efficient you are! That would take me a week. And it’s only be half as good. Lol. Honestly though your backgrounds and hat a wonderful as your paintings. They always flow together. I’ve noticed you tend to use some hair colors in them which is awesome. This looks like she was born out of light or fire. Beautiful. Always amazing, my friend, unreal. Take care everyone. James Gilbreath - not like another brush. I assure you. It makes it easier than tracing. Yes, like a projector, but better. Do a search for camera lucida iPad app. Knowing WHERE to stroke your brush is especially important with watercolour, much more so than oil. With that app you totally abolish errors. He won’t tell you that like so many other cheating artists. In flicker mode you can really see your effort compared to the original. It’s a beast. Look it up and your eyes will open.

I am not exaggerating when I say these are the thinnest strands of hair I have ever seen and I didn't know it was possible!! Seeing that it is possible to paint hair strands this fine has inspired me to work even harder in photo-realism in my own works! I am extremely grateful for this and it means so much to me and everyone else I make art for! Such dimension, looks like someone is chiseling a marble sculpture on the bench. I like how you are not concerned with any aspect of the composition other than what particular feature you are painting, great skill to keep it all proportioned that way. you methodically move down the paper and let the masterpiece unfold out the bristles. So realistic & a great likeness also

Are you even a human being? This is mind blowing talent! Do you even realize you are one of a million? Hell no, one of a billiard and probably even more rare? You are so unique in your mastered skill and technique! I’ve seen a lot of watercolor works but this is just .... I have no enough words to describe what the process of you drawing made me feel like. My soul is crying. Crying from joy....
