Fascinating lecture. As a pilot who has flown aerobatics. what strikes me the most from this lecture is how talking about and DOING/EXPERIENCING aerobatics are so many worlds apart. Aerobatics - or the whole experience of flight - is nowhere near what these students are feeling during this lecture - seated comfortably in a lecture hall, tapping on laptop keyboards, sipping Starbucks, and daydreaming what they will have for lunch. Aerobatics is a very VISCERAL experience, seeing tunnel vision as the blood escapes your brain, feeling like you're going to vomit as you pull and roll, coordinating stick and rudder, doing rapid switches from 1G to positive and negative G's, all this while you are being baked under your glass canopy by the sunlight, hearing and feeling the RPM, hearing and feeling the wind across your airframe, and you are pushing the envelope while trying not to get yourself killed. The experience of Flight is absolute Terror and zenlike Peace all rolled into one, pure poetry in all 3 dimensions of space. Ground school is necessary and every pilot goes through this - but pilot ground school is the same as listening to the robotic voice of Siri or Alexa reading J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan mechanically word for word, while actual flying is BEING Peter Pan himself, with real wings

Academics have such a wonderful way of making amazing and exciting things uninteresting! Education is doomed! Hahah!
