Thank you again Mitch. I share your affinity for Assos products. Functional quality. An investment as you say. Plan to pull the trigger on the Ultraz this weekend…unless you convince me otherwise. Think it might “suit” my efforts in the slow lane. A layer or two beneath for the upcoming chill. Enjoy the ride! 😃🌞🙏

Lovely choice. I think they make the best cycling apparel products in the world. I’ll have to check out the Ultraz. What temperature range are you looking for?

“Off the hop!” Looks like they just updated the Johdah. Hopefully the zipper is improved. *The “sphere“ patch @4:15 and blue front shoulder accents are also gone in the new version.

Yes I saw. It looks like an improved neck area as well. I’d be interested in one, but can’t justify another purchase 😂

amazing review. Thank you so much for taking the time. That was really helpful. I wish you had still mentioned a little on "fit." I am a little heavier and taller than most hardcore bikers who probably buy this or whom it may have been designed for.
@MitchOnTwoWheels2 жыл бұрын
No problem :) The fit/size calculator on the Assos site has been spot on for me accross a number of different items. I too am taller and heavier than the average bear. Thanks for the feedback 🙏

Really appreciate showing the construction of the jacket in such detail! I only started road cycling this summer and still need to figure out what I need in cooler temps before making an investment choice. I tend to get hot at the back the most and winters are mild where I live (usually hovering just above freezing) so I’ll definitely never need a heat pack there, but am wondering if that pocket between those shoulder blades doubles up as air vent? I couldn’t really tell from the video.
@MitchOnTwoWheels3 жыл бұрын
It’s meant to carry another shell jacket in it, which I guess would help keep you warmer… I tend to keep it empty and simply use the main pockets in the back instead.

@@MitchOnTwoWheels Thank you! Turns out the women’s version doesn’t even have that shoulder back pocket, apologies for wasting your time! 🙈

Hi Mitch, what's the coldest temperature (or range) that you think this jacket can handle? I'm sure Canada is similar to me here in the midwest US, where 0-7C (32-45F) is only "chilly." I need something that I can push into the 20F(-6C) range. I mostly ride in Castelli, but their warmest stuff poops out around 32F/0C.
@MitchOnTwoWheels2 жыл бұрын
I’ve ridden it down to -6 before without issues. You will just need to use a colder base layer, or even look at the mid layer options. These will both really expand the low end range of the jacket. Conversely, I’ve worn it with a summer base layer to use it in warmer weather too….

Watching for the 5-10th time. Found the jacket on sale for 25% off. Trying to convince myself. I already have two of the Castelli Alpha ROS

Hey Mitch What temperature range is the jacket suitable for? Play with the thought of the jacket in the fall / spring to wear only with summer baselayer. In winter I will then put on a winter baselayer. Cheers
@MitchOnTwoWheels2 жыл бұрын
I do the same thing when using different base layers. Sometimes I use a summer BL and go right up to winter BL depending on temperature. I also change between short sleeve and long sleeve of each. I’ve had it comfortably down to 0C and have also used it up to +10C where it starts to get warm.
@nadsim154 Жыл бұрын
@@MitchOnTwoWheels The max temp you could push it is only 10C with the lightest baselayer? it is actually almost -50% but i already have many alpha ros and perfetto so not sure about buying it 🚴♂
@MitchOnTwoWheels Жыл бұрын
@@nadsim154 It's a very warm jacket... Designed for winter. I wouldn't want to be wearing it over 10 or so C. Thats when I wear my fall gear.

Thanks for the review. I noticed you ordered a large and was curious what your stats are? I'm 6', 175, 39.5" chest and 34" waist. I always order a medium in Assos but I'm not sure how much stretch these materials will have since they are for winter riding.
@MitchOnTwoWheels3 жыл бұрын
I’m 6-3 200lbs. Everything I order from Assos is a Large. This is indifferent… in fact I would say it’s slightly bigger if anything.

@@MitchOnTwoWheels 👍. I've always loved their kits although I mostly wear Q36.5. if you ever get a chance to try them I highly recommend. It was started by Luigi Bergamo who spent 20 years as head of Assos R&D.

Hi guys! I just got my jacket and I have you notice that the inner shell or chest skirt the cut and the zipper is offset. Is this done by assos intentionally?
@MitchOnTwoWheels2 жыл бұрын
I’ll take a look tomorrow. So you’re saying that the inner zipper and outer zipper don’t align over one another in the centre?
@MitchOnTwoWheels2 жыл бұрын
You are correct, my right side has more material on it for the inner zipper. The left side (the logo stamped side) has less material. Meaning the zipper is off to logo side when zipped up. I didn't notice this, but it makes sense as to not line the zipper up to get less airflow through them.

A lot of different features for that jacket. The placement of that label, and how it is sewn on is baffling to me.

Yes it’s a weird one for sure. Not a big deal in my opinion and not noticeable without a high powered light 💡
