I was alive & well during the 1973 Southeast snowstorm. Grew up in Columbia SC. I think i got 18 inches in my area of Forest Acres. Two feet plus in some areas. Seems like i was playing in the snow every year back then.

I'm a bit sw of Chicago and as a kid I would hand draw weather maps and those arctic blasts would plunge south with high winds and Canada would stay cold even though a arctic piece of it would plunge south. Our avg snow is diwn to 37" from Dec to the end of Feb. I got 3 inches so far but we still have time. End of Jan. And Feb could be interesting..notice we don't see international falls Min. with the coldest temp at a - 30° or Cutbank Montana back in the day they would always point that out. You don't see that tight temp. Gradient with cold to warm much anymore. Still the weather is always a first for me.. storm chaser/ watcher IL. Have a happy/ healthy New Year🌬❄️🌎🎛🐈

Grew up in buffalo NY, live in Fredericksburg Virginia now. I will be hiking the Rappahannock River around 5am. The sight of the birds, eagles and the occasional Fox on wet snow is just special. It will be really quiet with no one around. January 3rd 2022 is the last time we had a nice snowfall in which I could hike in. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets hyped up for a hike in a snowstorm, Especially at first light. I've seen some amazing things at that time of day when it's snowing.

I live 20 miles west of Lebanon, Missouri. As of 8 this morning, we have about a quarter inch of ice, thunder snow, and sleet. As of right now, 10 am, the wind is starting to pick up. I certainly wouldn't mind getting dry slotted! All my gates were frozen shut, and feeding and watering critters this morning wasn't much fun.
