What about when you have to make a miter cut? You have to take the side piece off? Is it only effective if you’re chopping and can have the sides on?
@Statedwoods
@Statedwoods 2 жыл бұрын
You do have to take the sides off depending on the angle you need. I always keep at least one side on but even without, the drafts is strong enough to pick that fine dust out of your face

@@Statedwoods what if you make separate doors for different miters? With that stroke of genius using magnets you could just snap on and off different doors 👍

I was glad to see you put on safety glasses, but you should also put on ear protections. I have ALWAYS used ear protections, for 60 years, and my hearing is better than most teen agers, thanks to avoiding loud noises. Please, use ear protection, in your older age you will be grateful that you will maintain good frequency response so you can continue enjoying your music. Please, I'm serious.

Do you have plans for this? I also have a DeWalt Mitre Saw and I really like the solution you came up with! Mine is a slider though, so I would have to make adjustments for that but I think the rest of it would work. Thanks Nick! Bev New

I am currently looking for ideas for sawdust containment beyond my current box catchment concept. I am NOT naive enough to think I can get it all. My aim is to just do better! The box was a big improvement. Now Im going to try a curtain on the front. There must be at least 30 Tube videos on this topic. Hope I don't have to relearn their mistakes. I notice that your curtain is plywood. Maybe I'll take try at that. My latest try was a tent affair that looks pretty good for mobile saws. Turned out to be an utter failure for me.You have included other features in your box, as I have, but your needs are different than mine, but a good source of ideas. Thanks for doing far better than most on this very difficult project! Using magnets for removable items is a great idea !

my sliding compound miter is my most dusty machine, i came up with an idea to deal with all the dust and it does a great job without the need for a dustcollector.. i used a second hand box fan and built a cabinet for my saw.. the fan is mounted at the back but is shrouded on the inside so the dust is pulled down and then back up to the fan, the dust is removed by a furnace filter under the fan, all the dust gets trapped in the bottom of the cabinet. i haven't seen this idea anywhere on the internet but i love it
