MIT 8.821 String Theory and Holographic Duality, Fall 2014
View the complete course: ocw.mit.edu/8-8...
Instructor: Hong Liu
In this lecture, Prof. Liu first discusses the causal structure of a black hole geometry, and that of a closely related spacetime called Rindler spacetime. He also derives a closely related phenomenon: Minkowski spacetime.

I get a = rho for the acceleration and not 1/rho. Did anyone else work it out?

If temperature at the horizon is infinite or very hot, how does the BH simulate superconducting state, with very low temperature? What is the temperature at the singularity?

I like how two lessons in, class attendance has fallen to 13% of the first lecture, and by the time we hit gauge theories (lecture 7), it's at around 4%.

The equation for the Schwartzchild radius of the black hole is wrong. it's r sub s = 2GM/C^2.

I believe he said he would be setting c=1 for the rest of the course in the first or second lecture

Well, *very clever and concise* derivations of formulae after formulae, but where is the the motivation that creates excitement? What and why do we want to achieve? Where is the narrative? Yes they come more or less in the end, but delivered this way the material is quite dry. (I still plan to hang on to this series, because I am very interested. Sorry for the air of negativity - I do appreciate that this is available)

This is just regurgitating what came out of some book. As for the motive, you'll fail the class if you don't take it in.

Yes, I'm 13 yo, If we studied the Causal Structure & Global Hyperbolicity in Black holes, we would be able to find its Geometry and the Manifold(Topological Geometry) we would find the Dynamics of Black hole, or How it functions deep inside the Event Horizon.
