in my opinion, this is the most vulnerable and raw emotional mitski song. its hard to even listen to it cuz it feels like i shouldnt, like im hearing smth im not supposed to. this album is so emotionally vulnerable, its like mitski opened up her heart for the world to see and my god what a beautiful heart she has. and its her first album too like my god....god, its so good and god its so chilling and god im crying and throwing up but like in a good way

There is a door to me I've never seen it Sometimes I get closer to it But I've never found it At twilight I almost had it But then the night fell I looked out at the dark and wondered How could I have lost it? Then one night at the park I saw it with my cheek in the dirt I couldn't move underneath the dark But at least I finally found it It cried out a creak and opened To show me what's beyond it A hopeless, a violence I named it: Love.

I love to overthink and analyze many of mitski's songs but in this instance i think this song is very straight forward.(Kinda) This is a song describing a search and longing for the feeling of true love. Either romantic or purely sensual the urgency in her voice emphasizes how she really needs it
@Wilfrdeleon2 жыл бұрын
The lyrics also portray a sense that the what we are looking for was lost at some point but at the same time is so unfamiliar and pleasing. The setting of this song is just amazing. I love u mitski

I don't really know why but this is probably the song that took me the most time to learn to like off of Lush. It's really simple and sparse in the arrangment but the decisions made work so well and carry things a long way. It kinda has a cinematic feeling to it with the way the piano plays in the 2nd half of the song.
@jacestokely58333 жыл бұрын
I feel like this song is talking about temptation, and how there is a door there asking u to go through me to go away from your temptation, but u don't care, but it's right there "how could I lost it" really shows that, but when u get through it z , u find lovez and happiness, self love.

I know that the song is about a feeling of love but the first time I was listening to it I didn’t finish it and understand it differently. For me it was more about a person who struggle with depression trying to find a resolution to their condition. Sometimes it feels like you’re closer to finding it but then you slip right back where you was… And after awhile you get used to being depressed and the exit out of it becomes more frightening than staying like that.

Mitski made a song called door, and since she created the world (she is god) she obviously created doors, and has not really made a song called wheel, but references items with wheels on it, like in her song happy, she says "if you're going take the train , so I can hear it rumble, one last rumble" a train has a lot of wheels, and then technically she could try hinting that we should take wheels for granted, and she references songs about doors. In her song class of 2013, she asks her mother if she can sleep in her house tonight. A house has doors, and since she asks her mother to sleep in the house, then she has to come in contact with enough doors until she is physically inside the house. So she must have a closer connection with doors than wheels, therefore creating more doors. *Therefore, there are more doors than wheels.*

for me this song, it is rage--it makes me feel, remember my drive and spite for others just because I want to do it--not because it is morally correct, but because I want to see what could happen. I wish to be loved, but I can never feel loved. People, my friends--I could find the violence of love with them maybe let them hear my struggles, but love--it's so beautiful it is attacking me. Listening to mitski, I feel a fuse in me twist and burn.
