Mitsubishi 2.4 Timing Belt Fail, 4G610 in Outlander

Replace BOTH of your timing belt proactively !!! Belt failed, stranded, valves bent, timing blade bent. Simple maintenance turned into big repair.

What happens is the intake and exhuast valves hits the pistions once it hits the piston the engine is gone you can get an engine for it or do the valves or the cyclinder head

I have a 2006 mitsubishi galant 2.4l mivec they tell me it's the timing belt so I should the same thing has you!??

Found my timing belt went on my 2005 lancer ralliart. Okay if I was only going 5-10mph in a gas station parking lot when it stalled, being a 1st Gen 2.4 Mivec and intereference at 132,000miles...is it possible that the valves did NOT bend and I'll be good to go if I just switched out the belt?

What is a good place to get a rebuilt head? I have a 2003 Galant and my belt broke and my valves bent. Same engine as this

I got the same problem but my timing belt is not broke..is there another belt in the engine..

There are 2 belts, a small one is on the bottom and the main one goes to the camshaft. I undid the 2 bolts on the top of the timing cover and slightly pried it back with a screwdriver to see the belt was still in place but also had someone turn over the engine. the crankshaft turned but the belt didn't move. i took the timing cover off to find 13 teeth missing on the belt at the crankshaft pulley. They don't always just break or shred.

@@tajhealthnature8570 It may not be as simple as that. If the belt stopped turning the camshaft while the engine was running there is a 99% chance that your valves got bent like mine. My previous post was how i determined if the belt was not moving. To test for bent valves though. Remove the valve cover and take the spark plugs out. Loosen all of the camshaft bolts till the rocker arms are no longer pressing on the valves (This will allow all of them to close so the pistons don"t hit them during the next step, theoretically) Now perform a compression test on each cylinder. If you get less than 120 psi on each cylinder within 2 rotations, you will have to get a valve job done. Hope this helps you out.

David Nauertz Hello, it’s still running today a year and a half later with the vertical cracks. Maybe I got lucky but it’s gone 15K kms like that.

That is a 4g69 no lt 😂 a 4g610 and i own both the 69 amd 63 swapped cars its a 69 4g69

I had the same exact problem on the same engine. Mine were also cracked pretty bad on one of the intake valves. I was hoping to get an update on if your car is still running to this day?

And does your car engine shake the car when parked or just idling. I had issues before the snap of my timing belt and it is still there. Not sure if it is the motor mounts? I had the spark plugs changed at 100000 miles and the car is at 170000 right now after the change of the whole time belt parts and valves.

The harmonic balancer can be set 180 degrees out which will cause vibrations
