I have owned 3 CZ1's since 2005, 2009, 2013. I have never driven a more reliable car ever + 60+mpg. No issues 2005-2009, the 2009 car I still drive (daughter's car). It has 45.8K on the clock, Rear brakes need new shoes. The mid exhaust failed at 45.1K but was repaired with a length of tube. No other issues. 2013 had new front discs/pads at 68K and rear shoes needed at 83K. Mid exhaust failed at 81K and mid section replaced at £100. The car was hit by a van and written off in Sept 2021 with 83.4K on the clock.

Bought a 2009 Colt facelift, only major problem I found so far is sticky shifter (left to right movement). I fixed this myself by replacing the gear shifter pin (under airbox) with one from a Mini, making it much more serviceable too.The original is pressed and needs to be drilled out while the Mini pin comes with a bolt. Starting to fall in love with it more and more. Minor problems are the trunk floor and cover being droopy, but that's something I'm gonna replace in the future.

I have a 2008 1.3 model with 362.000 km on it. Engine and transmission run great and do not consume any oil. Have had very few expenses on the car, but have had defective dashboard computer unit (clock/temperature/radio-display) and handbrake, and the AC compressor seized up, and the exhaust broke underneath the middle of the car because they neglected to put a support between the catalytic converter and the long exhaust pipe. Otherwise very reliable car.

Thanks for the video. I'm generally happy with my 1.1 CZ3. PROBLEMS I've found were: dashboard unit (the one that shows temp and fuel range) backlight doesn't work properly (needs to be re-soldered?), leather on the wheel and stick shift are not very durable, original suspension sucks. ANNOYANCES: engine is fairly loud in lower gears probably owing to the timing chain, the body paint is very easily scratched, the seatbelt sound is really annoying and I wish I could turn the sound off, when it's sunny there's a lot of reflection on the front windshield coming from the dashboard plastic. Outside of that it's a really easy car to work with and maintain. Already changed rear suspension, oil and filters, spark plugs, cleaned throttle body, changed alternator belt and water pump, flushed brake oil and radiator fluid... and I did it all myself. Really happy with that considering I'm no car mechanic. Car is working perfectly, just hope the timing chain lasts.

Im getting creaking from the rear on my Colt , it drives and handles well but im just scared the wheels gonna fall off lol as it sounds really awful it has done 117 thousand miles and is on original suspension but my garage wants £500 to replace suspension , i cannot afford it sadly

i have a 2005 1332cc Colt with tiptronic automatic gear shifter. Has 230,000 KM at the clock and running great. I hope to keep it until ~270,000 KM for about 3 more years. The only major issue was with the actuator clutch which had to be replaced in 2013 at around 85,000KM. Minor issues include the glove box which could not shut so I took it off. The heat control knob gets stuck when turned on the coldest setting, then you need brutal force to put some heat on. The computer in the middle stopped working at around 180,000KM (used to give the comsumption and temperature outside). Other than that this Colt has been a very reliable motoring.

Steeringwheel does not center itself on highways. Correcting direction Constantly is a common symptom in this case. However, people tends to believe having a heavily behaving steeringwheel, which is not necessarily the case.

I bought my Mitsubishi Colt 1.3 ClearTec manual transmision from 2012 about 6 months ago. It only had 24000km. I drove it for 6000km now found no major problems. Of course this is a very low milage car. There are literally no unwanted noises whatsoever and the car drives like 100% new. I have to be honest about one thing: Shifting the gear into reverse is sometimes difficult, but I read everywhere that they all have this issue. It's a pity it already has this issue when almost brand-new condition, because everything else is very smooth and feels as factory standard.

Have thé same car 1.3 from 2012 , also the reverse gear when the car is cold is difficult , i ve read somewhere that if u put it in reverse when the car is turned off it Will be ok or like thé comment below in third and after in reverse

​@@mohamedchatt4543 Yes, I tried this as well to put it in reverse before start and also to put it in 3rd gear first, then reverse. It kind of works, but it's not that much better. When you have to get your car out of a row of parked cars, you will need to switch from 1st gear to reverse a lot of times anyway, so it's still a problem. I'll have my Colt serviced for the first time now, after 15000km since I bought it (now 40000km total) and I'll ask the mechanics about this issue. Perhaps they have a clue or experience with this problem (I'm going to a garage with good reputation :))

I had a Colt CZT 2007 year i bought it from Switserland and had a 160 000 on it. Car was sitting parked with stuck handbrake and i redone all brake system, change 1 brake jaw and then i could feel very firm and rigid brakes. My car has missing parts and not so factory look because someone before me was going nuts with the car.. it had huge line for stereo under everything. my friends who drove the czt said that mine is fastest and strongest. i had full sliks sharp edge tires. Car was so reliable. I drove it one year and no issues at all. only issue thar car had was fuel uneffisiency i drove it 40 000 km in one year and i sold it car goes 0-100kmph under 6 sec.. my consern is that car has over 200 hp and going 30 litres for 100 km. all M5-s cryed baby blue baby evo. tomorow i am going to buy 1.3 cleartec. i tried car and it was ultra funny biggest problems was: 1- Reverse gear 2-Clutch sound 3-front lights-when rain it loses contacts 4-low visibility in rear corners for 3-door variante hint for CZT USERS ONLY -ESP module is located under the plastic tray under the handle of handbrake. Just carefully remove that plastic, disconect a Bosch sensor and you good to go :) best fun for money if u have 5 k buy czt and tune it and you are fastest boiii

The car is great and 1.3l engine has plenty of power to have fun on village roads. However it seems there are some notorious problems that happen on many older colts (Z-30 or CZ-3) aswell: - Steering binding near centre position and not returning to the direct centre. This one is possibly caused by lubricant in the power steering mechanism (notably on a geared shaft) getting out or not being properly applied from the factory. Power steering mechanism is electric can be disassembled, checked and lubricated again, or changed. - Computer display spazzing out especially at colder temperatures (my observation) where it refuses to show temperature and other data, or resets it completely along with time. I still dont know how to fix that, but someone suggested reflowing the computers processor. That might be worth a try as these are almost impossible to find when new and noone will guarantee you that the used one will work. - Car juddering/shaking with a warm engine (after driving like 20 kms) on light throttle in a range of around 1800 to 2300 revs/min - I have no idea how to fix that. Putting in very high quality fuel helps a bit, but still doesnt completely fix this issue. Internet nor google dont know aswell. Someone on honda forum suggested it might be a failing oxygen sensor, but I kind of doubt that due to this cars excellent fuel consumption. - Gear pin getting stuck/binding, causing gear stick not centering properly or making shifting harder - Look it up on youtube, there are guides. Sometimes oiling it well helps. I love the car to bits, but these issues grind my gears. And at the end, I would recommend some mods: - intake and exhaust - These are too constricted in a stock car. If you have a 3D printer, you can print a bigger intake part (can be searched on thingiverse), or buy that expansive sporty kit from KN. With exhaust, the choose wider rear part, the front isnt that narrow as the rear is. - Alloy wheels for less weight and lowering/stiffening the suspension a little bit for (but dont go with more than 25mm lowering with the same shocks/struts because that will drastically decrease their durability)

My steering is not centering itself, I could see a slight oil leak coming from the shaft, when looking up under the steering column inside tje car. Any quick fix?

@@TheFootballDude18 I have no idea how to fix it yourself, sorry. I would take it to a trustworthy mechanic you have to get it checked, if its leaking. Although I dont think that there is anything to leak from the steering inside of the car...

I've fixed the engine shake by cleaning the throttle body: you take out the air box, unscrew the screws that hold the throttle body to the plastic admission, and spray throttle body cleaner on both sides of the throttle body (plus clean the air intake)

I have the 1.1 litre version and its like a rally car will do 60mph in 2nd gear and 120mph on a clear highway but the MPG is poor for £6 of petrol i only get 30 miles where as my old car a C1 could get 55 miles for same amount of fuel.

I dont know where the author of this video gets his sources, but I am getting between 4,5 to 6l of petrol per 100 km. If you have high fuel consumption, it can be caused by a faulty oxygen sensor. This car has two, one before cat and one after the catalyzator and most often the one thats dead is the first one, because it gets to experience high temperatures and carbon build up. I've seen a video where cleaning it in hot water helped aswell without needing it to disconnect.

I have the 1.1 version and mine has a fault where it is injecting too much petrol into the engine but im ok with this as when i put my foot down it goes like a rally car , it is a lot of fun for such an old car , reminds me of the old Skoda Felicias they were fun too
