This fix also works for the last generation of the Mitsubishi WD's. This worked on my WD92-A12. I'm very graetful for the great detail on the issue. I've rebuilt/replaced nearly every component. The DLP chip, the entire optical engine board, the power supply, all of the fans.... The entire family is glad that the giant lives again!

I had this air flow error message and consequent shut off issue; just did this "solder-in jump wire repair" last Sunday, has worked great, one week in. Thanks so much. On a 2006 TV that was given to me, didn't want to call in a repairman (or junk it it and spend $500 on a new TV just yet).

We have a Wd-65Y and this code first came up a couple of years ago, we removed back cover and to our surprise it was loaded with dust and dog hair. We cleaned it, then plugged back in. It was good until now and I did the fix last night, it is now working fine, thanks for the help!! Also, once you complete the fix the TV will go through a initial check mode, after being plugged in again. The green light will flash then the TV will shut down. Press power button again, then TV will power up with no issues. Great fix!!!

Thanks again for this tip norcal715 It's time for me to apply this fix. Been putting this off because the 57731 is my primary monitor, and I've been nervous about messing up the alignment. But the message came back The intermittent problem seems to be a function of temp/humidity as the connector oxidation worsens over time. While I'm at it, I'm debating whether to run internal wire leads from the PC input/DVI cable connector audio terminals to the coax digital audio in connector. BTW: For those that have these superb displays, I've gotten the highest quality longest life lamps from DLP Lamp Solutions. Cheap 40 dollar lamps from Amazon sellers only last for 3-6 months. Over the years I've tried other suppliers, and hope my positive experiences with DLP LS will be help others. I hope to keep my DLP until I can afford an Ultrasharp in five years or so.

I was a bit skeptical, but I could not take having to keep resetting the TV so I performed the fix. I had an issue with tinning the wires and then getting them to join together, but after some frustration I completed the fix. I went to turn the TV on and didn't hear a sound. Hit the power button again and the TV fired right up and for the past three days I have not had an issue with the error message or shutting down. Thanks for this great article!

I'm considering replacing the main board on my LT-46249 as it will turn on, screen lights up solid blue, etc. however the menu does not appear and the onboard controls do not work other than lowering the volume when static noise appears after a few minutes. The TV would previously reset itself each and every power cycle with the initial setup menu appearing. I was able to avoid that issue by keeping fast boot/power up enabled however now the behavior is as initially described. Would the current symptoms be indicative of needing a newain board? Great video, thank you.

hey guy! great vid first off. however, i have a tv almost identical to yours. now, my dad gave it to me and told me it had a bad ballast. the only thing it does is the power light turns green for a minute then flashes yellow with no other signs of life. my question is, is the ballast really bad? if so, is there a way to fix it? if not, do they go bad after a while or did something cause it to go bad? reason i ask if theres a fix for the ballast is because every site online says they are out of stock for the ballast i need. thanks for the help!

Question... I just replaced the bulb and cleaned the inside of my WD-57831. I also pulled the cover plate off of the large fan housing up and to the right of the bulb and cleaned in there too. I forgot to look at which way the fan was pointing before I pulled it out. It seems to fit both ways and there are no directional arrows. My question is which way should the fan be blowing? Should it be drawing air into the tv and blowing onto the bulb or drawing air away from the bulb and blowing it out of the tv? Thanks for your time!

need your experience and need some advice, I have a mitsubishi TV WD-57732 to replace the lamp, but when I insert the lamp do not feel that the connections make contact, practically I feel that the case and the metal hit, and screws are not long enough to fit on ring nut, the threaded ring should get into the space that has the same case of the lamp, which tells me that this lamp does not fit in the original space, there is a short story on this TV, the owner commented that when I bought the TV, was damaged in transport and the store offered to repair it (Do not exchange) and it seems that technicians changed something, it could be that this section that you show in your video can be replaced by some other model ? How do you fix an issue with the tv shutting off after it boots up? Status light blinks red for a little bit then goes out. This just happened out of the blue. Worked fine two days ago. I'm suspecting it to be the main fan that cools the light to the right of the lamp. The other smaller one to the left works fine and can see and hear it spinning. Ty....

Thom DeFord You offer criticism yet no additional information. What's the "proper" technique "to hardwire this connector?" norcal715 presents a very fast permanent solder splicing technique, suitable for beginners working on stationary appliances to get them back online quickly. The point is whether the splice works as a permanent solution in a stationary low voltage/vibration application. A better fix than wire nuts or butt splices, that's for certain- but any of the above would work.
