Thank You so much for this video, I have a 2008 73", that had the shadow on top like yours, 6" or so, first I tried "loosening" the screw a quarter turn, didn't do much, I then did a little more, I think a half turn in total, and voila !, it looked perfect, so then I put all the screws back in. Your video wasted no time, and said exactly what needed to be said. So Stoked ! :-)

You're a lifesaver man! It's 2018 and we still have our 65 inch dlp in our bedroom cause it still rocks, but that blasted horizontal shadow was causing frustration for months! Was gonna purchase new tv until I came across this video! Followed your example step by step, and sure enough- problem fixed! May good shit happen to you and your fam! Thank you!!

Great video! I thought I had issues with the color wheel because the shaded line across my tv was multi colored like a rainbow. I gave this fix a try and it worked perfectly.

Thank's worked great on my 65735 , my tape marks were close to yours and i ended up turning the adjustment left a quarter turn and its perfect now.

I just replaced the DLP Chip in my 65" Mitsubishi, went with the Shop.Jimmy video, should have waited till I saw yours. At least your 73" looks identical to my 65" so it would have been easier than second guessing how my larger model was different in wiring etc, than the model they were using.

Thanks Jason for video. If I do as you say to fix my vertical shadow on my right side, how do I know how many turns on the screwdriver? I kind of want to buy a new tv, but if I can fix the shadow I will wait. THANKS in advance for help

Adjust screws how many turns? Do you have to keep assembly then disassemble every time

THANKS...HAVE A WD-82837 82" SCREEN...MY REPAIR TECH RECENTLY INSTALLED A NEW CHIP TO SOLVE A WHITE DOT ISSUE AND ALSO INSTALLED A NEW LAMP...UPON COMPLETION THE PICTURE WAS GREAT EXCEPT FOR A HORIZONTAL SHADOW AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN WAS NOW PRESENT AND THE TECH SAID IT WAS A NEW ISSUE AND WOULD CONTACT ME LATER AS TO THE REPAIR DETAILS AND COST....YOUR THOUGHTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED....THANK YOU !

Hi Jason, I have a 65" DLP and I get shadows on mostly darker settings as a glow. The funny thing is when I replace the bulbs, they are fixed, then comes back after 30 to 90 days? Thanks!

I have a 65" DLP with the shadow now down about 6" from the top and getting lower each day. I understand the fix based on your video, but how can i tell how much to turn the vertical screw to the left to know that the picture is in its' correct position again?

I did what you said and it fixed the problem for about two days. While I was watching I witnessed the shadow come back. No one was near the tv. Do you know what causes this issue?

I haven't opened my wd-73737 up yet - but - i've heard another issue (besides adjustment) can be the glue coming loose on a lens, or the 'light tunnel' that can cause a sagging shadow - one guy claimed he fixed it with gorilla glue .. saw in a post, can't confirm

JP, how do you know how man times to turn the screw? Do you have to just reassemble it and try it each time? Mine is about just as far as you have taped off on yours. How many times did you turn the screw?

I removed tape and turned screw to the left 3 or 4 turns and it fixed shadow on the right side of my screen. This fix Absolutely Works.

so my light tunnel is loose in the adjustment housing the glue dried up . So do you know what glue to use to reset it?

Hi, I just knocked my Mitsubishi DLP TV over into the wall while I was cleaning some windows. I hit it good enough to drive the corner into the drywall and left a 1/2 inch gouge in the wall. Anyway, I now have a shadow across the top of the screen running somewhat diagonally from the left side to the top right side of the screen. At the bottom of this shadow I have a rainbow light spectrum. Do you think adjusting the light tunnel for vertical adjustment might correct this? Other than this, the TV seems ok.

You only need power to it to see the test screen

+Jason Pare great video, wouldn't you want the power on to make sure you're adjusting it correctly? Unless I'm missing something, how else would you know how much to loosen/tighten?

Right you need it on the see the test screen on how it's aligned. When actually adjusting it you need power it off and wait for the fan to stop then unplug it. Thanks for the comment

You need to replace the bulb or if you took it apart a screw could be missing. It wont function properly without all the pieces getting put back. I recommend putting your model number on amazon and finding a replacement bulb you shouldnt have any more issues going forward.

Can you explain a little more about the vertical and horizontal directions? If you are looking at the TV like normal and the shadow tunnel is on the left hand side for example, do I want to turn the adjustment screw left or right?

One thing is a FACT about a DLP Mitsubishi tv you will learn to become a tv repairman and a Maid since it will need constant cleaning cause the fans blow everything in to keep the Lamp cool and since Mitsubishi has stopped the production of this piece of junk i seriously suggest to EVERYONE do not by a DLP Lamp Tv sooner or later you will regret it

Meh..... 13 years and 70k + hours on mine, yeah I put a DLP chip in and light bulbs go out, but I'm willing to bet it has lasted longer than any replacement for it will......

My WDY65 is approaching two decades. I’ve kept the vents and fans clean and have only replaced lamps thus far. OEM only. Just did a deep clean including the lens and it looks like new again. Huge reward for very small effort.
