The owner of the Nakamichi name got greedy and jacked up the licensing fee because those products were selling well. Ian, the old owner of IOTAVX told the guy to get bent and Ian started a customer direct company called IOTAVX. Now this guy is just renting out the name to the next suckered. Funny thing. The dragon was THE standard for everyone to beat. Just as other companies (there were several) finally designed tape decks that actually matched or beat the dragon, CDs came out and wiped out the whole cassette tape industry. Digital media relegated analogue audio tape obsolete in just a few years. But there really are tape decks out there with specs that equal and even beat the dragon. But who cares? It's like knowing who made the best muskets. A few people still fire muskets just like a few people still play cassette tapes... but not many. Nice to see the name again.... sad to see the quality is not there. It's rated at 0.2% THD, but it hit 1% during the test. The standard for test THD is supposed to be at its rated power, not at 1W. Welcome to the 21st century, I suppose. Still fantastic boom for the buck.
