Can you elaborate on the PAC adapter limitation(s)? Will a Nest/Ecobee connected to mini-splits via the adapter run less efficiently (e.g. not completely variable speed), or would we just miss out on convenience bells and whistles? Thanks!

Great question! You will be losing both efficiency and functionality. Efficiency: since ecobee and nest operate on a 2 stage protocol, the controls will likely kick the system into stage 2 if the temperature isn't satisfied quickly. This means that the thermostat will tell both the indoor and outdoor unit to ramp up to meet the temperature. Naturally, the mini split would ramp up on its own in the most efficient way possible. Functionality: you will lose vane control as well as other ductless specific controls that you would have if you used any Mitsubishi controls. Hope this helps!

@@gotductlessusa Thanks for the reply! Helpful, if disappointing (I have 3 Nests that are about to become paperweights) 😑. I appreciate the help; I've been having a heck of a time finding this info elsewhere.

What is the best wirless controller for homes with 5 or more indoor units?

Mitsubishi wise, you can use the MHK2 wireless controllers for any units you want to control with a wall mounted thermostat. You can use kumo cloud wireless wifi adapters if you want to control all the units from your phone. You will need 1 adapter per unit. If you'd like to use something like ecobee or nest, you would need to get 1 PAC-US445 adapter per indoor unit. Hope that helps!

Or to the Kumo cloud? Like for return in each room type of situation?

Great question! You can hook up kumo sensors to the kumo cloud. You can use both the kumo cloud and mhk2 together.

@@gotductlessusa multiple sensors to one cloud? For example, family home upstairs has one AHU handling 5 bed rooms , return/supply in each room , no central cold air return, id want a sensor in each room communicating with thermostat ( or Kumo cloud in this case). Is this possible?
